The final to be held on the wall?

Mystic Mock 13-06-2018 11:24 AM

I wish it was the World Cup coming up.:joker:

They actually do

AnnieK 13-06-2018 12:11 PM

Wow, will that not be a logistical and climate nightmare? Going from playing in cool Canada to the heat of Mexico plus travel between games etc?

Nicky91 13-06-2018 12:41 PM

Canada and USA also want to play at a world cup for once :joker:

USA has played many, many times on the World Cup (10 times in total). In fact, before this, last time USA was not in the World Cup was in 1986.

Canada has also appeared in the World Cup, once in 1986, finishing in 24th place (last) with 3 losses in 3 games.

Japan and South Korea got in 2002, so imo so should they.

Also by then the competition has 48 nations (in 16 groups of 3), so it does not matter anyway.

Cute.

Only really a free handicap for Canada, the other two would normally qualify anyway. I wouldn't be in total opposition to the automatic qualification rule being wcrapped entirely, though

Not the proper way with pro/rel and no solidarity payments but we do actually play it.

Except we didn't qualify for this one and now the opposition (Not to soccer in general but to the current fed, which has not allowed basic things like solidarity payments and pro/rel) wants to desprately take more than ever.

Which is a bad thing because they want to burn it all down again meaning we could be witnessing another qualifying fiasco in 30 years time

I know you did not, that is what I meant.

The Americans play Soccer, but it isn’t exposed as much as countries such as Brazil, the UK...

US seems to have turned MLS into the traditional Conference System with Playoffs etc. like with most of their professional leagues.

A shame.

This will be the third time Mexico (1970, 1986) has hosted and the second time for USA (1994) yet we who invented association football have only hosted once (1966) so that means Mexico have hosted 3 times since we last hosted.

A UK World Cup played in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland would be much better than this concoction they've come up with.

bitontheslide 17-06-2022 02:49 PM

the teams that are based in mexico are basically stuffed

LeatherTrumpet 17-06-2022 03:17 PM

what a stupid money based idea

bitontheslide 17-06-2022 03:49 PM

politically, the uk just isn't popular for hosting it at the moment, and why should we be bothered, we will be allowed to host eurovision next year

UserSince2005 17-06-2022 03:54 PM

its nice of the US to let canada and mexico host a couple of games each.

UserSince2005 23-11-2022 09:18 PM

Apparently they are abbreviating Canada/USA/Mexico to CUM. Suddenly I’m interested in football.
