British LGBT campaigner Peter Tatchell detained by Russian police

I guess they will put him on a Plane back to the UK.

Holding a Big Sign on his arrest.
He was asking for trouble.

no one is causing trouble now in Russia, except him

even Putin speaks english for the first time, few words at least welcome to FIFA world cup 2018 :hee:

even Russia while first having banned robbie williams from their country, he is now allowed to perform there at the opening ceremony

...are you actually aware of the situation in Chechnya that he's protesting, or are you just naturally this dense?

Events are the best place to protest tbf. Today for example there's a protest going on in Cork to try to stop an Incinerator being built, it's on specifically today because Prince Charles and Camilla are visiting so there will be a lot of media coverage around that area.......... it's the smart way to protest

bitontheslide 14-06-2018 02:11 PM

not the correct platform for protest. He was lucky to escape without a beating.

Smart though because with all the worlds cameras on them he's alot less likely to get a beating for protesting something like this

Too irked to be sarcastic. This guy has given his whole life to fight for equality and human rights, refused money and honours, got beaten countless times.
Pure venom and casual nastiness of some never fails to astound

That's what visible protest is about
Maybe you should turn your attention to what he is protesting about and write some snappy verses about gay people torture in Chechnya

Yeah, it's right on the harbour in Ringaskiddy, close to where I live as well, close to lots of residential areas They've actually been trying to get planning permission for it for 17 years and just had it granted so there's going to be appeals now on that. I don't understand how they got it (well I do but you know) it's on a site right next to the naval base in Haulbowline which apparently might have to close because of it, a state run facility being closed by a private company??? somethings rotten in Denmark

Tom4784 14-06-2018 03:08 PM

Yes, what an attention seeking idiot protesting the purging of gay men in Chechnya! How dare he try to make a difference!

Livia 14-06-2018 03:11 PM

Tatchell certainly is fervent about what he believes and like Niamh said, the world's press are in attendance, so probably the best place for a protest. However... while I admire many of the stances he takes, Peter Tatchell and the OutRage! have in the past made it their business to 'out' gay people in the public eye... politicians, clergy... whether they wanted their business broadcast, or not.

arista 14-06-2018 03:21 PM

He is out of the Police Station
Told Not To Protest , again.

He was just Live on SkyNewsHD
via his mobile phone
briefly.

He was wrong about that. Doesn't change his otherwise tremendous record.
Who else tried citizen arrest of Mugabe

Russian police would say that wouldn't they.
At least he provides a nice contrast of principles vis a vis Robbie who is happy to open for Putin, anything to help flagging career

It was a while ago, too. I wonder whether he would do the same now? Probably not. And yeah, the citizens arrest of Mugabe... legendary. Although he was really badly beaten after that.

sounds like someone got a massive backhander, I know they have to put these things somewhere but in a residential area is very suspect

Agree. He was impatient and frustrated that some who were secretly gay did not support gay rights in public. He's matured as a campaigner since then.

It's obvious why they want it right on the harbour too so they can start importing other countries waste as well
