Stalking

Should the police take it much more seriously?

I think I've spoken about my ex following me to work and on nights out on here before so I won't bore anyone but I think the police should definitely take stalking much more seriously than they do. Molly McLaren would be ative if they did.

 I had to google the girl to jog my memory , stabbed 75 times!! just for breaking up with him  what a sick lunatic ! .

The sad thing is usually stalking is done by people that know you who you obviously once trusted , but 100% it should be taken more seriously , not that it isn't taken seriously already i would of thought. Did you tell police about your ex?? is that issue resolved now?.

It should be taken very seriously but it won't. You only have to look at how victims of sexual abuse are treeated in the courts to gauge how much the law cares about crimes like this against women.

(Obviously, it's not only a women's only issue, neither is sexual abuse or rape but it's difficult to argue that women aren't the main victims of it most of the time)

No I never did. He was more of a nuisance than anything, I never felt scared just angry with him. I did get him banned from where I work though because he used to stay outside with his friends and watch me.

I have no idea where he is now, last I heard out of the area and was big into drugs.

He's not worth it then.

I think stalking is dangerous. I would hate it if it happened to me. Yes I think police should do more.

hmm .. sounds very weird and uncomfortable . Maybe he was all bark and no bite luckily , but you just never know in these situations just how far it can go.

If you have a stalker who is literally outside your home ,work place and everywhere you go then the police have to be involved . Jeez there's so many mentally disturbed people out there :umm2: .

The Police are too busy doing paper work rather than actually being allowed to deal with cases like stalking sadly.

The constant fear you must have if you're being stalked I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

If it wasn't Amy Jade then it's not a problem. It seems highly unlikely that it was Amy Jade.

The intent to stalk should definitely get more serious attention. The problem is proving it reliably.

Unless there's actual contact or harassing letters / messages etc. it's basically impossible to prove and what is and isn't illegal is also very fuzzy. For example... if it's simply "constantly being in public spaces that you are also in" then it's hard to see where any law is actually being broken, if there isn't some sort of direct harassment going on, or a restraining order in place and (in the UK at least, not sure elsewhere) I believe it's very hard to get a restraining order unless there has been past violence, or the threat of violence.

I think stalking is finally getting a bit more attention. The police, as hard pushed as they are for time, seem to react differently now. And organisations like the Suzy Lamplugh Trust do amazing work with victims... although depressingly, I heard someone from the trust on TV last night say that for every call they answer, they miss one because the problem is so massive. And of course, the Internet has made stalking much easier. It's amazing the information people put online.

Instead they write Every Breath You Take which shows how little they take it seriously.:bored:

I wish people would stop giving out their personal details on social media  . Some of them don't even realise it's filtered to PUBLIC for everyone to see .
