What would you think if you saw a man approach an unaccompanied child?
This sort of ties into the thread about leaving small children unaccompanied outside shops.
If you saw a small child who was unaccompanied, too young to be out with friends or whatever, and obviously upset, and a man approached, would you think they were just a concerned passerby, or would you be suspicious? |
Depends if they looked noncey or not

The chances are that it’s just a concerned passer by but there’s always that tiny chance its not so i’d probably go and see that everthing was ok and maybe find a security guard or maybe a cop.
If i found an unaccompanied kid crying i would probably tell a woman nearby to wait with them while i got someone or take them into a nearby shop. Alot of men would think twice about helping tbh due to people’s perceptions. |
I would stick my neb in.....as i have done before.

Are actually playing in my local tonight. |
I think I would think he was just checking the child was ok, however I would keep an eye on things. Its hard to imagine this tbh, as so many men probably would not approach an unaccompanied child for fear of what the reaction would be. It shouldn't be like that, but it is and you cannot be too careful when it comes to kids tbh.

I'm sure there's a statistic somewhere that says that if a kid goes up to any stranger in the street, there's like a 99.99% chance that they're perfectly safe. I mean, obviously, that 0.01% does exist and that's a scary thought, but most people will simply either want to help or - at worst - ignore them or tell them to piss off. The usual thing to tell kids is to "find a woman with kids" but really, best thing for a lost child to do is to find the nearest customer services desk in any store, doesn't matter where, and ask for help there.
The sad thing is, while actual paedophiles are likely to be male... It's not necessarily paedophiles that are the only danger, and a mentally unstable female could just as likely do a child harm either intentionally or otherwise. So basically if you see ANYONE try to take a lost child anywhere other than into the nearest shop to talk to staff, it should be a concern. |

To Answer the Question I would keep my Eye on the Man at all times and See if he tells a Security Guard or calls the Cop. If he does neither and i witness him Leading the Kid Elsewhere, I would stop him immediately and question his motives. I would then call a Security Guard.

These situations can be misunderstood and it could just be an adult asking a kid if he/ she's ok , but on the otherhand what if it's something sinister :nono: . I'd say be alert and if the stranger is trying to either lure the kid away or something then that's when you'd worry and let other people know. |
I'd assume he was his dad and the child was being a troublesome brat and carry on with my day.

I would think it was the childs parent or guardian/concerned passer by.
