I said before the semi-final that I've wanted Croatia to do well in the tournament, just not at our expense  there's loads of reasons I want them to win, though:
- Obviously the underdogs, nobody gave them a chance when talking about the "contenders for the title" pre-tournament.
- Obviously had the most arduous and tough route to the final of the two; they've seen off the hosts and their doping, us and Denmark in penalties or extra time, and also beaten Argentina, Iceland and Nigeria - all of them good teams in probably the best group of "quality opponents".
- It'd be the first time we've had a "new winner" since France in 1998 NEVER MIND I FORGOT SPAIN
- France have played some pretty boring football on the whole. They've scraped some boring wins over Peru and Australia, and only really shone against Argentina and Belgium (and even then still scraped through against both)
- Mbappe, whilst amazing, has played dirty tactics the past two rounds and whilst he'll emerge the tournament as the star player, it won't be without indignity :idc:
- Edit: also, we can say we lost against the champions
That said I won't be mad if France win, I wish we'd had an England-France final really since we're the two countries that have been through the most terrorism and horrible, horrible events (that're actually good at football, sorry Syria and Iraq x)... but yeah I really like the idea of a new country winning.
