The Voice 2017 winner Mo Jamil has reportedly been dropped by his record label.

The champion of last year's series put out his record, called Evolve, back in March.

The album release was followed by a live performance on The Voice UK during its live shows this year.

However sources claim he's now parted ways with his record label.

An insider told The Sun newspaper: "He worked hard on his first album but it really didn't impress fans or get much of a pick-up."

They added: "[Record label] Polydor's only option was to cut ties with Mo. He's now hoping he'll be able to make it big on his own."

Mo spent twelve months working on music for his debut record.

The talented singer teamed up with some of the most hotly-tipped writers and producers in the world including Mr. Hudson, Maths Times Joy (Bebe Rexha, Snakehips, Mary J Blige), Artery Music (RAYE, Dua Lipa) and James Earp (Rebecca Ferguson, Mel C, Nina Nesbitt).

The record debuted at Number 36 in the charts with the album.

Mo becomes the latest winner of The Voice UK to struggle in the charts. Series 1 winner Leanne Mitchell debuted at Number 134 with her album, Kevin Simm made it to Number 114. Jermain Jackman made it as high as 42 with his release while Stevie McCrorie managed 35.

Series 2 champ Andrea Begley made the most important, reaching Number 7 with her debut effort in 2013.

Mo was mentored by Jennifer Hudson on The Voice UK last year and recently reunited with her and fellow The Voice coaches Sir Tom Jones and Olly Murs at the BRIT Awards.

The Voice UK returns to ITV or a new series next year.

Can we just accept that The Voice winners aren't getting success (even in the states I don't hear of successful winners)

I've no idea why anyone applies for this show, it's a total waste of time

The prize should just be cash rather than a record deal imo, I really enjoy the show but the time for super stars to be made from reality talent shows is over imo, even for the X Factor (which is good I think)

Agree, which it makes it more baffling that they still churn them out every year despite not being able to achieve what the whole aim of the show is about.

I do love the Voice still though :fan: But yeah just market it differently maybe and sell it more as a once off talent competition rather than a star in the making, the winner (or anyone in the competition) could still try and use it as a platform themselves if they wanted to and maybe those who are the most hungry for it/talented could make something of it
