James Whale, hero to zero in the blink of an eyelid

Everyone in the media was very sympathetic to Talk Radio host James Whale when he lost his wife to cancer.

That was a few weeks ago. Now he's gone from being loved by everyone to suspension from his job at Talk Radio.

Allegedly he laughed when a caller to his show said she had been 'orally raped'.

In his defence, he did say on air the culprit should be locked up. It was the camera thing that nabbed him.

It's funny how the media can turn on someone. I don't know what James is doing at this moment but he should be on air. James Galloway has taken over his radio slot.

The thing is freelance broadcasters do not get paid when they don't go to work, so James will have to find another job pronto. Sadly he's a bit of a Payara at the moment.

Christ, i cracked a joke to my ex brother in law.......i wont go into the circumstances but it would shock you all into thinking i was a callous bastard...

But people react wierd in trying circumstances....let james back on air...he was just being human.

As I said, if it weren't for the cameras, he'd still be on air, because he never said anything on air that was wrong or bad.

Allegedly he laughed when a caller to his show said she had been 'orally raped'.

But this 'laugh' was only caught on the studio cam. He never said anything on air that mocked the caller. He was subsequently suspended while a 'full' investigation is underway.

So he laughed after the convo?

Bit much that mind, but yeah, he wasnt on air and his mind wasnt where it normally is..

Undecided now.

He sort of sniggered when she said 'orally raped'. But you're right, his wife's death is still raw so I think we can forgive him for these slight oddities.

I saw the clip the other day and found it pretty uncomfortable. Happens in the first ten seconds

What sort of uncomfortable did it make you feel, can you explain the feeling?

Sometimes Big Brother has cringe moments that can make me feel uncomfortable, is it that kind of uncomfortable?

I realise you're trying to be patronising but yes, an '...oh dear :/ :umm2:' kind of reaction

I don't think he should be fired but a suspension was justified

bots 06-08-2018 11:19 PM

It comes from the fact that he thinks he needs to be edgy and give the interviewee a bit of a grilling. His usual style just wasnt appropriate for the caller. Does that deserve getting fired? I don't think so, those pillocks on day time TV do far worse constantly and no-one bats an eye

i liked him when he was on big brother, but that was really uncomfortable to watch

As I said, I think he can be excused. The line who took during the conversation was one of the man who committed the sex act, should be locked up. There is no question about that. But Whale has just lost his wife and his behaviour on air has been a bit erratic of late.

That's a shame, I remember liking him on CBB.
