Mandy (released September)

There's alot of hype around this! Nicholas Cage, Andrea Riseborough and Linus Roache (Ken Barlow's son in real life).

Quote:

Somewhere in the primal wilderness near the Shadow Mountains in the year 1983, Red Miller (Nicolas Cage) has fallen deeply for the deceptively charming Mandy Bloom (Andrea Riseborough). However, the life he has made for himself comes crashing down suddenly and horrifyingly, when a vile band of ravaging cultists and supernatural creatures desecrate his idyllic home with vicious fury. A broken man, Red now lives for one thing only—to hunt down these maniacal villains and exact swift vengeance.

It's had amazing reviews at early screenings and film festivals. Looks insane.

Looks woeful tbh. Nic Cage's presence doesn't help it.

On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 97% based on 31 reviews, and an average rating of 8.1/10. The website's critical consensus reads, "Mandy's gonzo violence is fueled by a gripping performance by Nicolas Cage — and anchored with palpable emotion conveyed between his volcanic outbursts." On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of 83 out of 100, based on 10 critics, indicating "universal acclaim".

Reviewing the film after its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, Nick Allen of RogerEbert.com praised the movie, writing that "for all of the endless feral performances that Cage has given, in movies good, bad and forgettable, Cosmatos’ style-driven, ‘80s-tastic passion for weird worlds and characters takes full advantage of Cage’s greatness, and then some."
