Should you take parcels for your neighbours?

Oliver_W 16-08-2018 12:10 PM

I'm with the blonde lady, I didn't even realise there was a debate about it and thought it was just something you do for your neighbours.

Livia 16-08-2018 12:13 PM

I don't have any neighbours, I'm delighted to report. When I lived in London though, I'd always take stuff in for neighbours and they would for me too.

I have a special hidey-hole that only me, the postman and the Amazon man know about.... so no neighbours needed.

Crimson Dynamo 16-08-2018 12:19 PM

Of course, im always taking parcels for folk and the other day a man came from the the wee block of elderly flats at the bottom of the road and handed me a camera that had been in his lobby for a few days, he came all the way up the road and gave it to me, no idea why RM left it down their tho.

I would have done the same. :)

Jordan. 16-08-2018 12:21 PM

Yeah, don't know why anyone would have an issue with doing such a small favour for someone.

caprimint 16-08-2018 12:23 PM

Nope, they could be really dodgy neighbours and take your parcel for themselves and just say they never got it

Kazanne 16-08-2018 12:35 PM

You'de have to be some sort of miserable sod not to take a parcel in,blimey,it's not hard work is it? who would have thought being neighbourly would be up for debate.

In that case the place where it was purchased would track it or deal with it.

I know people in W. Texas where this is actually true  ... I want to say several miles between houses and so it's a beautiful drive in-between for the mailman  Literally tumbleweed amongst the rolling hills...

Texas is one of the states I have an eye on tbh, for if I ever move Stateside <3

Niamh. 16-08-2018 12:41 PM

I have done before yeah

Maru 16-08-2018 12:43 PM

I would take it if it's something important. Like, a neighbor who has to receive medical supplies, or an elderly neighbor... I would be annoyed though if it were for anything else and on a regular basis because I work at home. Plus every interruption gets my dogs riled up... they're a good alarm system, but it tends to make my ears bleed

Yeah  We've thought about going the way of Tumbleweed when we get closer to retiring... the husband and I can have a little farm, raise chickens... maybe run a small animal rescue...

Alf 16-08-2018 12:46 PM

You'd have to be an ignorant, miserable arsehole to not do that. It's no hardship.

Jordan. 16-08-2018 12:51 PM

The women in the video acting like it'd be the burden of her life to have to knock on next door and give them a parcel :skull: If you agree with Eamonn you know you're in the wrong.

Crimson Dynamo 16-08-2018 12:55 PM

It would be nice to get a parcel now and then that was not addressed to the TL and wasnt ANOTHER frickin Radley handbag

Yesterday was the orange one that is hard to find and the day before it was the one to fit her A4 filofax, last Friday was the blue one that goes with the shoes she got in M&S..

and so it goes on

Crimson Dynamo 16-08-2018 12:57 PM

and she bought a brolly from the Radley shop on Monday, i said do you ever use a brolly and she said no but it goes with the dark blue handbag..

Its a disease

:skull:

Matthew. 16-08-2018 01:01 PM

yeah be a good neighbour

Owen19 16-08-2018 01:04 PM

Lmao why is this even a debate

armand.kay 16-08-2018 01:06 PM

It hardly ever happens for me I really dont mind doing it. What kind of neigbors do they have that its become a burden

Matthew. 16-08-2018 03:12 PM

cant believe that 69% of people think it’s ok to refuse to take a parcel in for a neighbour

Morgan. 16-08-2018 03:15 PM

My neighbours stole our new smart tv so we put strict instructions not to leave with neighbours. I'll take their stuff occasionally though unless it's a massive delivery OR I'm going to be out.

Barry. 16-08-2018 03:15 PM

We always take them in if the neighbour is out. It's the nicer thing to do.

They should, but it probably depends on the company

I wouldn't refuse btw, I don't mind doing it at all but personally I'd rather it just be delivered the next day or whatever
