Games you were looking forward to that let you down.

Inspired by Sullen Girl's "I want this to get at least 85 metascore" murder spree of upcoming games; what games were you hyped for that fell flat?

Off the top of my head...

Resi 6

A lot of people feel it went downhill after 4, but I really enjoyed Resi 5 (in a "daft but fun" way) but 6 was just bad. I only finished one of the three parts... And that was a chore.

No Man's Sky

No explanation needed really.

State of Decay 2

I actually really enjoyed the updated version of the first game, with a "no running zombies" mod it was actually a pretty awesome Zombie survival simulator. State of Decay 2 was supposed to be bigger and better but is actually a POS.

I'm sure I'd thought of another but it's slipped my mind ...

Metal Gear Solid V

It's not a bad game by any means, but it drifted so far from what made the Metal Gear series special, I feel the game would have worked a lot better if it was more linear.

I thought the gameplay was excellent tbh, though it could have mixed in a few "big indoor setpiece" linear missions throughout. Even just 3 or 4 for big story events.

What really let it down was A) Changing the voice. Sutherland's voice acting is good but... It's just not snake. Somewhat mitigated by "the spoiler ending" BUT it was Sutherland in Ground Zeros too and that was before the helicopter crash, so... Not so much.

Also the fact that due to the Konami / Kojima drama, it wasn't finished. It was meant to be about 1/3 longer and you can tell.

Murder spree :joker:

Most recent ones are vampyr and we happy few (haven’t played either tho)

Have you played no mans sky since the update? Apparently it’s really good now

Horizon Zero Dawn I've tried so hard to like it but I get too bored and can't play for longer than 15 mins every time, Witcher 3 it is not

Recently State of Decay 2

In general Alien Isolation, Rise of the Tomb Raider and sadly now Friday the 13th as they devs have all but given up on the game and left it almost unplayable:(

That game gets better once Nil comes into the story. And Sylens is a really good character imo, but you'll have to wait awhile for him to show up.

My most disappointing game would be Uncharted 4, it felt more like a walking simulator rather than the fun Action/Adventure with Puzzle elements that we'd all come to love about the franchise. And the story was incredibly overrated I feel, it lost all sense of the fun and adventure and instead became about some Drama about Nate's Brother (who we'd never heard mentioned in any other installment) on top of the annoying love drama that happens in every game with Elena makes the story torture for me personally.

GTA 4. It was ite, but not my favourite story. Was kind of depressing.

5 was much, much better, but Vice City/San Andrea remain top!

Resident Evil 6. Got halfway through and then ditched it. Haven't played it since and don't think I ever will. Pure crap.

The Walking Dead: Final Frontier

Although not a bad game I thought it was a huge misstep to make Clem a secondary character. I think one of the better things about the series was shaping who Clem was and kind of watching her grow and they took it all away to introduce Javier and his family I found a chore to care about. Gabe was just annoying so the big choice at the end was pretty emotionless for me wheras part 1 was beautiful but so sad and part 2 was such a hard choice between two characters I had grown to like.

Glad the final 4th season is the last but I hope they let us see Clem with a pleasent happy ending. I would hate to see her given a crappy send off

I completed the Chris chapter and played maybe 20 minutes of Leon before I gave up. I can forgive the daft storyline - I still enjoyed Resi 5 and it wasn't amazing storyline wise - but the actual gameplay of 6 was just bad. They somehow messed up the controls, and half of the levels were just frustrating to play. Not really fun at all. I was pretty gutted as, like I said, I enjoyed Resi 5, and Resi 4 is one of my favourite games of all time.

THIS.

Season 4 Episode 1 was really promising so I pray that Telltale can keep up the consistency for the remaining episodes. I really don't want Clem to die but I feel like it's gonna happen. :bawling: If it is to happen, then she better go out beautifully like the soldier she is
