Production -- Your Feedback!

I have constructive criticism.

Quote:

  • The focus on the relationships between housemates and story progression is much better than the past's tendency to focus on just one big HM.
  • I'm glad they don't have the over-revealing "coming up" at the beginning of the episode.
  • The show needs to be longer, as just one hour of highlights is not enough. In fact, it's more around 35 minutes due to ads.
  • Showing the housemates waking up and getting ready needs to be minimised, it goes on too long and it's not too interesting to watch tbh
  • Allowing drama to develop naturally is GREAT. I'm so glad we haven't seen one of those "who did the public vote the most dramatic/fake" tasks yet, and hope not to see one in this series at all.

And, also, some hopes for upcoming episodes;

Quote:

  • Gather housemates around the lounge while nominations go on in the diary room, and only let people leave once all nominations have been completed, and the nominees revealed. (2 or more housemates w most noms facing the vote)
  • For evictions, either have a traditional Channel 4 style when they walk out, or stick to the 10-1 countdown with music as they leave. (no sirens tho pls)
  • Keep the "nominations tally/leaderboard" in the top-right corner. It's a nice addition by C5, and makes it easier to keep track.
  • DEFINITELY do not show the nominations in Montages (ie. BB18 Week 4), show all of them alongside the actual reasons. And demand specific reasons if needed
  • Don't let housemates leave the lounge until the person has been evicted

Feel free to disagree or include your own, btw! I'll update the OP if you change my mind on any of these, or come up with suggestions I like.

The morning thing isn’t actually long enough for me. I miss the episodes opening with them being woken up by some obnoxious alarm

Baby Jane 18-08-2018 10:21 PM

The lack of orchestrated bitching tasks has been a pleasant change. I like the fact they're letting the drama develop organically.

Added!! Absolutely agree w/ this

The fact that music only seems to be played right at the start for a few seconds and then nothing else for the rest of the episode is amazing

Yeah and we're not burning through the fuel so so quickly either, we're able to see the deeper character development play out earlier on... because the more contrived, the more people are going to go simply go along with those contrived characteristics... they have no preconceived notions to "fall back" on when BB isn't tampering with them...

The less production forces people to interact a certain way, the more time they're going to take to sit back, to get to know each other and for natural drama and personality conflicts to play out... so I think it's worked much better this way.

tbh when I rewatch old seasons I'm surprised by how common it is for them to just start the episode off at like 12am

Baby Jane 18-08-2018 10:36 PM

The only good thing about the waking up scene is occasionally we see the odd boner in a pair of tight pants. Obviously you can see those out of the pants on Pornhub and things but there's nothing quite like seeing the morning wood of a faded pop star

I kind of associate the alarm with monotony ... just because it seems like the crazier episodes where there is a lot going on, we barely notice it... when it's a slow episode after a night of drama and everyone is apologizing that day and it's now task day/grocery shopping day, it seems to be more obvious to me...

Not 25 minutes of ads

Not C5 getting credit for C4's ideas :skull:

So far I'm definitely noticing the impact of them bringing a few old faces (or just an old face, singular?) back to the production team, in that Roxanne being made to sing the Star Spangled Banner and Rodrigo's luggage being swapped for that of a Brazilian carnival dancer both felt like the kind of thing Channel 4 would do to take the piss during tasks

The production has been really good so far and they should keep it as the way it is...

Rodrigo's punishment and the way it was executed was C4-like...

Not sure what show you're watching but Kirstie is clearly the ultimate chose one by the producers and she's been pretty dominant in the storytelling... I feel like I'm watching The Kirstie Alley Show Featuring Big Brother...

Tbf she is President and she's playing the role well. If it was someone else as president they'd get as much airtime.

Could we see less of the man/boys childish scooting around on suitcases, bursting balloons or laughing inanely at antics toddlers would get told off for.

I love a good laugh but this is just wasting time which could be spent on genuinely funny or entertaining house action.

Totally agree!

There's not been any of the between scene "reaction" stinger things!

The fact that she was chosen to be the "president" by BB shows that they want the spotlight on her... Tonight's episode was better but that said there is still too much attention on Kirstie...

JoshBB 19-08-2018 11:48 PM

Tonight kinda left some of the celebs barely on-screen, I mean, I know it's only an hour show.. but it felt a letdown compared to recent days. Maybe it's just me

Not sure what you're talking about in comparison to other episodes as I think it's really been the Kirstie Alley show up until now... That said I am noticing a few HM's are blending in to the background a bit...

JoshBB 20-08-2018 12:11 AM

That's basically what I mean. I wish they could try to incorporate more scenes of different housemates.
