These people spend their lives complaining, 24/7.

Samm 20-08-2018 05:06 PM

Unless they air someone getting raped or knifed I don't see the deal why people complain, it's a social experiment TV show (or used to be) If anyone does make racial remarks they should be warned/removed, what's the point of complaining tho lol

Elliot 20-08-2018 05:08 PM

They always complain and nothing ever happens :joker:

AProducer'sWetDream 20-08-2018 05:08 PM

People talk about going back to the golden years. Truth is nowadays Channel 5 wouldn't get away with some of the things Channel 4 used to do and air.

Imagine being surprised that people complained about the N word being used...

armand.kay 20-08-2018 09:34 PM

I mean someone did say the N word on the second day so not the best start

snap!

Robodog 20-08-2018 10:50 PM

1000 people who were clearly warned at the start of the show about the upcoming offensive racial language

They could have turned off at that point (no one is forcing anyone to watch)

But they chose to watch it anyway, despite all the warnings......
and then they complained about it.

Like going to see a horror movie, then writing to Ofcom because you got scared!

Like, duh.

p.s. no one is saying that racist language is acceptable in society

(apart from certain rappers who seem to get away with it, plus loads of hollywood movies and tv shows etc etc;
But for everyone else - we are all agreed - the n word etc = wrong)

The point here is: why watch something you know will offend you?

I find torture scenes in movies highly offensive: guess what?
I avoid those movies.

My girl is vegan;
She doesn't order steak then complain 'cause it's meat.

etc etc

Mystic Mock 20-08-2018 10:53 PM

Do these people have lives?

Lstan 20-08-2018 10:54 PM

I just hope it doesn't kill off the show (rumours thats its being axed this year are already rife)

Ashley. 20-08-2018 11:09 PM

I highly doubt the "race row" (really?) complaints will go that far considering there were two quite clear warnings beforehand. Plus, considering Rodrigo wasn't using the words in an insulting way OR against anyone specific, a formal warning was more than enough. He should have known better, mind, but it's hardly something that requires this much of a fuss.

JoshBB 20-08-2018 11:11 PM

people just like to be angry about something lol

..yeah this really...I’m not generally one for Ofcom complaint stuff in regards to BB...but imagine some silly old viewers feeling there would be no context in which that derogatory and disrespectful term was used in the house...and definitely not in the context Rodrigo used it...no way, no how, no never...

How can you say it wasn't in an insulting way, it was very derogatory and offensive. I don't know why people are seriously pushing this "oh he said he likes ****ers" angle because its just not the tea.

I never said it wasn't offensive. But he wasn't using the word as an insult. He wasn't using it negatively, he wasn't using it with the intention of causing significant harm. Had it been that way then sure, I'd be calling for his ejection.
