Basic rations is an ongoing saying from BB i think it really kicked in in BB3 during the divide in 2002 when Im A Celeb (which launched the same year) literally stole the whole idea of Big Brother and even used the same phrases.

Anyway...There was just no mention of it tonight. Food currency in BB has allways caused drama and I was hoping to see classic moments like when the shopping arrives and everyone runs to the store room like a pile of raving lunatics.

They did say something along the lines of "Housemates are waking up to their first day on a basic shopping budget"

Julie don't be patronising Im A Celeb stole the basic rations from BB. I know its known as a basic shopping budget but the housemates referred to them as rations throughout the series/years if you need to get into the smallest details.

Just one internet quote "Big Brother 2002, also known as Big Brother 3, was the third series of the British reality ..... Housemates on the poor side would live off basic rations and would only have the use of the outside toilet and shower. On the rich side, Housemates ..."

You call yourself hardcore fans? Pfft!

Yes C5 have had basic rations in the past

"Basic rations for a basic bitch"

https://33.media.tumblr.com/6defff2a...ysqqo1_500.gif

But this series, going back to the C4 days, went back to basic shopping budget which was £1 per head per day, but is now £2.50 per person per day.

Basic rations was so C5, basic budget is C4 :flutter:

No. No. No.

Basic shopping budget and basic rations are two different things sweetie.

Basic shopping budget is just the minimal amount of money available to buy that week's shopping.

Basic rations is no shopping at all, just getting fed BB's slop or other tiny meal that is provided at meal times. But nothing in the kitchen for the housemates to snack on/prepare themselves.

A basic shopping budget is what they get for failing that week's shopping task as per most series of BB. Basic rations is what they get during specific tasks/twists such as the poor/rich divide in BB3.
