What's the difference between Natalie and Bear/Marc?

Intrigued at this point to hear what sets them apart and why Marc/Helen/Bear drained their series of entertainment value and Natalie supposedly isn't?

Of course there have been good series with overbearing personalities being terrible people: Tiffany, Gemma, Kim, Charley, Nikki... the difference is they were at least funny. What stand-out moments does Natalie have? What quotes are there? All I'm hearing is noise and a god complex of "everyone's fake but me". Which is exactly what Bear did

Edit: and before anyone accuses me of coming for Natalie's fans, this question works both ways :eyes: why are there so many Bear/Helen fans taking issue with her?

Maru 24-08-2018 03:08 AM

Bear was far more creative with his tomfoolery imo. As much as I disliked him, there was genius behind his behavior and how he wound people up... I don't remember all of Marc's scenes, but I think that he knew how to include other people in his "fun" and wasn't the controlling farce that Natalie is... both of them were into manipulation, yes, but there were more layers than just simply "Why aren't y'all as fun as me?..." etc

I didn't really like Bear/Marc all that much, but they understood fan-service imo. Natalie is all about her 24/7. I suspect there's some very specific self-loathing going on there... as there's too much negativity wrought from her feeling like she has to keep an eye on her housemates at all times to make sure they're behaving to a certain standard... is how she must feel about herself when she is not "performing" or making a point to force herself into every situation... is a thought.

Perez was as flawed as a character, even Nikki, but they went through the spectrum as far as which complexes were on prime display that particular day... and yes, actually funny and very entertaining.

Both great but Natalie is NOT on Bear's level. Bear got under people's skin without having to literally shout at and tear into the person.

He's muuuuuch better and more creative at what he does so it felt more natural. And that's not a shot at Natalie either though. I can't specifically think of quotes/examples but she's been a howl at times. She's just a bit more somewhat generic "yell at people with the intention to piss them off" whereas Bear had a lot more to him than that. :clap1:

I am SO GLAD you brought up this thread because yes, absolutely. I'm only Wiki watching but Natalie..... she never really did it for me? Kinda tired and rehearsed and like, why would you rehearse so much for that end result?

That being said, it is rich how so many people criticize her and slam her and bash her but then celebrate people like Helen and Marc and Bear for the same reasons :3

caprimint 24-08-2018 06:35 AM

There's quite a difference from Natalie to the guys imo. Natalie isn't trying to annoy people I don't think  I'm sure she's just reacting to these situations naturally. Bear and Marc were intentionally trolling the other housemates.

Crimson Dynamo 24-08-2018 06:43 AM

Natalie has no humour and is basic and vile. The others had some semblence of charm -she has none.

But i suspect a little gentle wind up and ribbing is being exercised for the sport and that is fair enough, if you get me by apologists for her antics

we are all guilty of this at times

Marc and especially Bear were absolutely vile and disgusting in what they said and their actions. Marc for casually body shaming women and enjoying demeaning the weak, and Bear for being a domestic abuser who made it a mission for people to be terrified of him, every 1-3 HL shows of CBB18 will feature someone crying or shaking when he's in the same room ugh worst person ever cast on the show I ****ing despise him.

With Natalie, while she's definitely sometimes 'calculated' in some way like the other two, she's much more accidental and purely just attacks out of anger or defensiveness. She sometimes likes to pick on people like the other two, but it's more of an obnoxious loudmouth situation whereas the other two grinned when harrassing others.

I think the differenve between Natalie and Bear is that she isn't being offensive or purposefully antagonistic. Bear was doing things to goad a reaction from others and Marc just irritated me because he felt like he was put in by producers to stir it up it never felt natural to me.

Natalie feels completely real to me and is some of it petty? yeah perhaps but I would rather see her kick off over a wet seat that endure the showmances for the rest of the series.

Is this a serious question ?

BBDodge 24-08-2018 08:12 AM

Bear had a sense of humour.

thisisdanny 24-08-2018 08:27 AM

Bear and Marc tried to be funny but actually went out their way to intimidate people.

Natalie just gets into arguments.

And Natalie isn't intimidating people when she stand over them whilst they're already in tears and just shouts and screams at them?

And like they went out of their way to intimidate people, Natalie is going out her way to argue and cause friction but not in the humorous and relatively unintentional way that the likes of Tiffany did.

It's a bit weird tbh as I feel that Helen, Bear, and Natalie all brought something to the table that got the Forums talking (which is all I ask for) yet the Forums do react differently to all of them which is strange considering they are all quite similar to each other.

If I was to make a guess with Natalie she's probably being helped by the fact that Gabby and Chloe are awful Housemates that are enabling a bigger support base for Natalie, I mean I'm a Hardeep fan and even I'm tempted to swing to Natalie just to wipe the smug look off of Gabby's face.

She has purposely attacked people over things that didnt need to be brought up so you are trying to say she has a heart behind her arguments? She is a vicious little girl who still has the mindset of a 14 year old school bully

I'd actually say Bear is a nicer person than Natalie. We haven't really seen any other side to Natalie yet aside from her argumentative and feisty one.

"Things that didn't need to be brought up" is completely subjective. If it's something that bothered her and she thought was necessary, then it did.

And... she hasn't bullied anyone.

She attacked Chloe over her level of fame for no reason what so ever

They're all paid provocateurs (and likely sociopaths) serving the interests of production. The difference is that the guys were more charming, and a lot stronger personalities. I've seen Natalie get chased out of a room by a 67 year old woman, and get visibly flustered when the guys put her in her place during nominations. She's only really able to upset the young girls. When you watch her make a basic statement, and inexplicably laugh at what she's just said in an effort to raise a smile out of the person she's talking to, that's her attempt to be charming. She just doesn't have it. She's taken it upon herself to ask invasive questions of the other HMs, but this has backfired for the producers because she's so inept and ham-fisted that even the 'aspiring celebrities' (to use a polite term) don't want to talk about themselves while she's there.

Natalie is completely out of her depth in the role they've cast her in.

Haven't watched tonight's episode yet. Still, did Isabelle ever need to bring Lotan's son into the argument and was it relevant? No, but that didn't stop people defending it and supporting her.

Again... it's all subjective.

y.winter 24-08-2018 09:12 AM

It's boring and has no depth into it.
Why is she angry? because she's angry.
Why is she shouting? because shouting.

It's what she does for a living - being angry.
It's time to go to an anger management course.

Lol as a Natalie supporter that’s totally different. I don’t think Chloe and lotan are comparable at all.

 I wasn't comparing them. I was giving another example of a situation where people who supported Isabelle didn't care what she said, even when she commented on Lotan's personal life. I'm making the point of there being major double standards.

Rufus 24-08-2018 09:18 AM

Natalie isn't scum like the other 2. That's the difference.

Captain.Remy 24-08-2018 09:31 AM

If we go by "who is the main topic of conversation in the house" then obviously all of them are on the same level. They clearly dominated the airtime for good or bad reasons.

However though, Marc and Bear were pushovers, they did cause chaos on purpose. While I think Natalie is putting an act and is extra a lot of the time, some of the things she says do make sense and she brings some of her personal issues into it. So it's not as "fake" as Bear or Marc.
I don't see Helen in Natalie too, in a sense that Helen was put on a plateform and loved by a large part of the house that allowed her to go beyond limits a lot of the times (at least she thought the house allowed her to).

That being said, I think all four housemates were somehow misunderstood in their own way, and try to deal with certain situations in a harshly different way than other, more reserved, housemates. A lot can be explained by defense mechanisms. Had they opened up more about themselves, some of the outcomes could have been different.

Probably. At that time I was super sick of the lotan tom Kieran Ellie clique, so I was glad when lotan was sent packing. Context is important
