Multiple sources tell TMZ, the 26-year-old singer was at her Studio City, CA home the last week of September when the first emergency hit. We're told she was despondent and emotional over an alarmingly low white blood cell count in the wake of her kidney transplant. Our sources say a family member drove her to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A.

We're told Selena was released days later but had to be re-admitted late last week because her low blood cell count persisted, and it threw Selena into a downward emotional spiral.

Soon after she was admitted she insisted on leaving, but doctors said she couldn't. We're told Selena had "a meltdown" and "freaked out." Selena tried ripping the IV's out of her arm. Several sources called the episode "an emotional breakdown."

We're told Selena is currently at an East Coast psychiatric facility and is receiving dialectical behavior therapy -- DBT. The therapy treats various mental health disorders. Selena has received DBT in the past.

My nieces saw Selina Gomez at Wembley. On the train there, their mum got chatting to someone who was working at the concert. When they arrived, he got them invited backstage after the show... so nice of him, he didn't know them at all. The girls met Selina and she was really lovely to them, taking her time chatting, complimenting them on their outfits... They have photos of themselves with her that they're very proud of and couldn't wait to get to school to show them off. I've got no reason to think my nieces were the only ones she ever treated like this, I'm sure she does it for lots of her young fans and I really hope she's feeling better soon.

Hard to know that without being in her shoes.

Her health situation could have life-altering implications, like she may have to end her career over it or give up something she loves... I can see that becoming a bit much.

It could also throw a wrench in any other plans she may have, like starting a family. Ayumi (the lady in my avatar) kept singing and performing despite the potential risk of losing her hearing, so she is nearly deaf now. She refuses to stop.
