Endemol “to sit down with Netflix next week” to discuss Big Brother

According to The Sun’s “TV source” at least anyway:

THE next series of Big Brother could be on Netflix after streaming bosses scheduled secret meetings to buy the show.

Endemol, who own the format of the programme, are sitting down with the service next week to discuss a deal after Channel 5 decided to not renew.

A TV source told the Sun: “Netflix could be the saviours of Big Brother — the news fans have wanted to hear since Channel 5 made the announcement.

“Executives at Endemol are meeting with Netflix early next week.

“Of course it’s still early days.

“Streaming sites have a lot of money so it’s an option they’re looking at.”

It comes after Netflix announced it is commissioning two series of Channel 4 flop The Circle.

Earlier this week presenter of Big Brother Emma Willis said she hoped it would come back.

ITV had been tipped as favourites to bring it back.

Until next summer will be long enough.

supertv247 19-10-2018 05:46 PM

If it were coming back to TV it would definitely need a few years rest first, but going to Netflix is completely different! It’d be targeting a whole new audience, have a drastically different format / look / feel (while still being technically the same show) etc so wouldn’t need a break to feel fresh

bots 19-10-2018 05:46 PM

is this brought to us by the same team that said ITV were doing a deal?

joeysteele 19-10-2018 05:47 PM

Interesting.

andybigbro 19-10-2018 05:47 PM

I hope it get picks up next year, not having it will be weird

Braden 19-10-2018 05:48 PM

I would agree that Big Brother needs a good rest, but a potential move to Netflix is quite an exciting prospect.

Denver 19-10-2018 05:48 PM

Netflix will most likely make it the North American format as it suits them better

Jack_ 19-10-2018 05:50 PM

Bring on HoH's, Veto's and a jury please and thank you :cheer2:

Headie 19-10-2018 05:51 PM

Oh ffs, just let it die already and come back in 10 years when people have missed it and will actually be hype for it again.

Yep, the show which had 6 million catch up streams x

Btw this is Andy Halls who is banned from strictly events due to him and Woottons vendetta against strictly (allegedly because Wootton is jealous that Ranj got strictly and not him)

Netflix > broadcast channels

There would be no scheduling messes, adverts, split evictions!

Liam- 19-10-2018 06:04 PM

I’m not sure how it would work on Netflix

Mrmattybeck 19-10-2018 06:07 PM

Interesting could be back as early as next summer if it happens

I'd rather it wasn't rested.

poppsywoppsy 19-10-2018 06:17 PM

I've just started Netflix. There is so much to catch up on already.

NOT CHANNEL 4 FLOP THE CIRCLE :skull: idon'tlikeyou.gif

I'm for it, but a part of me is worried about it being Americanized and losing the British sparkle.
