India willoughby, a legendary housemate?

I rewatched the like first week of cbb21 since it was literally the only good thing about that series and I can’t believe I forgot how good of a housemate india was. From story about how dalek was the first thing she got turned on at as a woman and how she chose her designer vagina, to her demandind to be referred to as a real woman and her dragphobia saga. She was bloody fantastic. And she’s quire unique in the sense that trans people on this show are usually heroic characters and come out on top whereas India was an out and out villan at the time that sparked a national conversation after trying to come on to ginuwine. Interesting, layered, showed vulnerability but also aired her grievances with the other housemates, and not to mention iconique! Were we robbed of a legend when she was evicted over fking Johnny Mitchell?

Not at all

Liam- 24-10-2018 11:57 AM

Johnny should have gone over her for sure, but she was still dire.

She was awful, and by her desire to have ’played it differently’ I’d guess she wasn’t being genuine either.

lewys 24-10-2018 12:26 PM

the best of a bad bunch, she was good but not legendary, maybe if she had stayed longer tho who knows

Jules82 24-10-2018 12:27 PM

I like her better outside than in, she has had a lot of fixtures and fittings and she certainly looks good.

Withano 24-10-2018 12:29 PM

She was in there like 4 days, and set transgender acceptance back about a decade, so no.

Bluelight 25-10-2018 05:08 PM

Honestly, I think she would have won it easily had she got through the first week. The fact she went out against Johnny (can’t even remember his surname) was a joke! I watched a few episodes again, and she was way the most interesting character - made things happen! Funny! And I think SHE was bullied! Less than a year on with all the trans stuff in the papers, you see how upset trans peoe get at being misgendered. Do think Rachel and Ann did it deliberately and were twisting knife. Think in years to come it’s going to look awful. Courtney was boring in my opinion, and is soooo over-rated. India had more headlines in one week than anyone. So yes...LEGEND.

RileyH 25-10-2018 05:09 PM

I think her impact is exaggerated tbh based on how dire CBB21 really was. She was nowhere near as good as Ginuwine, Ashley, Jess, Malika, Rachel etc

Bluelight 25-10-2018 05:09 PM

Just checked - she was in 11 days.

Matthew. 25-10-2018 05:12 PM

she was horrible to amanda and i think she was a crap housemate. glad she was out first

No she was pathetic and still is.

montblanc 25-10-2018 06:19 PM

the best of a bad bunch but i wouldn't say legendary

maybe if she would've stayed but we won't ever know that for sure

Hardly.:idc:

Bluelight 26-10-2018 02:18 PM

Think the fact she was first out yet probably has more mentions about her for season 21 than anyone else speaks for itself. LEGEND! 😊 Personally, thought she was the only interesting one - none of the others really deserved a place in the house. She marked a turning point I think when viewers turned on big characters giving them the boot. Natalie Nunn and Anamelia followed suit. My bug bear about this season was this: Courtney is the most OVERRATED person I’ve ever seen. Don’t get the love for him.

She was Alright But nothing Special

She is looking great now and believe it or not her favourite is Lewis even though she knows what happened. Well done gal....

Kazanne 30-10-2018 03:07 PM

I wasn't overkeen but she has a great taste in housemates, she was a Lewis fan.

Bluelight 30-10-2018 11:30 PM

I think she suffered because she was in probably the worst cast house ever. Any other year and I think she would have flourished. The misgendering thing killed her from the off, and because it was all women at the launch, her being marked as “different” probably hurt more. If it had been a bog standard mixed house from day one, I suspect the outcome would have been different. The public voting for plank of wood Jonny was ridiculous. The casting was terrible though. Ann Widdicombe for me never entered into the spirit of Big Brother, Rachel the same, while Ashley, Malika and Genuine may as well have been cardboard cut outs. Andrew Brady was sleazy fame hungry fake desperate. Amanda Barrie seemed off her head, Maggie whats her name was zzzz and all the men bar Wayne were dull as ditchwater. People compare LewisF to a cult leader - but I’d say Courtney was a bigger one. Summing up I think any other year India would have done well. Think we see her true side more on Bots, and her Twitter stuff is great. She lovs Big Brother and cares. I’m a Fan.

ugh this tea

Bluelight 02-11-2018 11:32 PM

If it ever comes back, she deserves a second chance, with a proper cast, in Ultimate / All Stars Big Brother

zrc 05-12-2018 02:39 PM

I'll only remember her for "I'm a woman!".

Amanda and Ann were my winners. The others I thought nothing of tbh.

Amanda and India sparring over ha accidentally saying he <3

Elliot 05-12-2018 08:00 PM

i still stand by this!! a very c4 esc housemate put alongside draining dreary desperate devoid bores so she couldn't shine :(

zrc 05-12-2018 10:00 PM

I only watched for Amanda, out of loyalty to anybody who had been in. Bad Girls (no joke did the same for Stephanie Beacham and Claire King). Was a bonus it was someone who played one half of my favourite characters (Bev and Phyl).

Ended up loving Ann because it was warming to see somebody stick to her beliefs and not let Courtney continue to proverbially poke the bear (which happened a lot).

India screamed filler to me, same with Maggie and the lads. Their early evictions cemented it to me. Could India have done more? Maybe. But when your only argument is about being trans, it gets a bit jarring.
But then of course, the editing played a big part in that.
