Should Santa only bring small presents?
Every year I see it on facebook - people saying that Little Timmy wonders why Santa only brought him a box of chocolates and a broken charity shop Starscream, while he gave Mildred from school a Sodor Island playset, a million Pokemon card, and a Nintendo Switch.
Do you think all parents should be encouraged to make the "from Santa" presents smaller and inexpensive, so it doesn't seem like Santa likes them more? My "Santa presents" were always things would could conceivably be made in a workshop - instead of branded lumps of plastic, they were wooden toys or traditional games, stuff like that. |

Well children normally write a list, so they can’t claim favouritism if they didn’t ask for anything to the scale of their friend?

My suggestion.......

I think parents should be able to get kids what they want to for christmas (or whenever) without feeling "shamed" because other kids get less... but yeah, I sort of agree that presents "from Santa" should maybe be kept reasonable, and if it's a more expensive gift (like a games console) that should be openly from the parents themselves.
It's not just the "getting more" issue really... all kids are going to ask for expensive things, and it seems pretty harsh if Bobby and Timmy both ask Santa for a PS4... Bobby gets the PS4... and Timmy gets a second hand NintendoDS. |
