Fruitcake in Marmite terms

Seeing as we’re gearing up to the big day. Where does everyone stand on fruitcake - harmless tradition or reviled for good reason?

Why would you put fruit in a cake

I just shoplifted two of those from John Lewis.

I looked like I had tits walking out the store.

I remember I ate a bit and liked it so my mum gave me a massive slice but i didnt like it after three bites so I hid like, half of the cake in between a pile of clothes

Are you telling us that you're a bit mental?

Fruit cake all year round in this house.
Christmas cake served with Wensleydale cheese is just the best.
We tend to go daft and stock up on the Xmas cakes, they freeze well.

Smashing! and I've got plenty left over for sandwiches and maybe a turkey curry. You can't beat a big bird.

Redway 25-12-2018 07:16 PM

Turkey should be appreciated more than it is year-round. Can’t beat a turkey sandwich.

RileyH 25-12-2018 08:09 PM

Turkey is dry and gross

Redway 25-12-2018 08:49 PM

Not when it’s properly seasoned.

Fruitcake has been the bane of my life for years. I'm convinced it started out as a foolish prank at some poor soul's birthday party and some bastard said they liked it.

Nicky91 29-12-2018 09:57 AM

fruitcake is a Christmas tradition i guess

If it’s dry it’s over cooked or it wasn’t basted and left to rest after coming out of the oven
