Am I being unreasonable?

So my mum has used a certain vet for 5 or so years (Rose Cottage Vets, for enquiring minds) and I have taken my dog there for 3.

Just found out the vets surgeon Elizabeth Gorse is a fox hunter and I want my dog to go elsewhere and cancel the booked in flea treatment for this week, for my mind if you actually enjoy watching an animal be ripped apart in terror you cannot be s true animal lover. My mum is fuming but I am standing firm, I can't hand-on-heart support a vet who enjoys fox hunting.

Am I being unreasonable?

Withano 06-01-2019 08:49 PM

No. She probably takes pleasure in putting down the dogs too.

Withano 06-01-2019 08:50 PM

Hw certain are you though? :suspect:

Alf 06-01-2019 08:53 PM

More selfish than unreasonable.

I don't care what my doctor gets up to in his free time, as long as he does his job and tries to help me from illness.

Don't let you're own ideology get in the way of the treatment of the dog. Fox hunters are good members of the community too.

Put ha out of business! Put in on Facebook love!

How can you be a vet and enjoy fox hunting like what :skull: I mean, I would normally say how can you be a decent human being and enjoy fox hunting, but even more so if you’re a vet! :oh:

Good on you, Amy, you’re not being unreasonable at all :clap1:

Underscore 06-01-2019 09:02 PM

No.

There’s a difference between a doctor going fox hunting and a vet going fox hunting

No there isn't, it's 2 human beings going fox hunting.

If my doctor smoked, drank and ate greasy foods, I couldn't care less as long as he was good at the job I needed him for.

Well said Matthew!

Indefensible imo for a vet to participate in killing animals for sport.
Stand firm Amy

What a sadistic bitch

No, it’s a person who’s job is to take care of animals, killing animals outside of work.

Smithy 06-01-2019 09:11 PM

Isn’t fox hunting illegal anyway

That's false analogy.
Suitable analogy would be going to Harold Shipman who was probably a competent doctor, but killed people for sport on the side.

How does that make her bad at her job as a vet? The poor dog is the one losing out here.

don't think it is 100% illegal, under certain conditions

but regardless, if I found out my vet used to go fox hunting when it was legal I'd still take my animals elsewhere

it calls into question how much she really values animal life is she is so happy to end it for sport
the dog is not the one losing, there's plenty of vets around
if anything it may be saving the dog from an unnecessary euthanasia

100% I have seen her at the vets and there are pictures of her on facebook at a hunt and posing on a horse with a pack of dogs. This weekend they illegally hunted a fox on private land and tried to weigh its body down in water :(

I feel sick st taking Cherry there

Because it shows she has no compassion towards animals

Alf 06-01-2019 09:21 PM

Well there's your answer Amy, I'm guessing it's the one you expected you was gonna get, everyone is on your side of the argument besides me..

Not going to lie I am not sure. Apparently they hunt on private land so it is legal...they strayed though onto private land owned by somebody against it and it's all over fb

Please don’t take me :fist:

No not unreasonable at all, it won’t be good for her business so even if she does approve why is she flaunting it...why is your Mum fuming, are they friendly or something

Lmao it’s not like they’re the only vet in existence. The dog’s not losing out at all.

Honestly it makes me wonder how she treats my dog, she's absoloutely lovely and friendly don't get me wrong, my 6 year old cousin dresses her up and puts her in a pram she is docile but at the vets she covers and has nipped at them before.

Could it be down to how the surgeon delt with her when she was neutured?
