Is corn not Vegan?

I'm confused as I've just seen an ad for "vegan popcorn" made from cauliflower.

Is cauliflower more vegan than corn?? What is happening. Is corn alive. I'm scared.

Marsh. 13-01-2019 12:44 PM

Popcorn probably has stuff added to it made from animal fats and stuff.

andybigbro 13-01-2019 12:48 PM

Is popcorn not made with butter etc?

Toy Soldier 13-01-2019 12:51 PM

It's literally corn, dried out, then heated up and it pops. You don't have to add anything :umm2:

You don't have to. But shop bought ones normally do.

Yes but they've created a specific vegan popcorn out of cauliflower, Marsh! Why didn't they just make a vegan popcorn using... p... popped corn? The only answer is that corn is people. Soylent Corn. :worry:

Cherie 13-01-2019 12:59 PM

Cauliflower has neither pop or corn so I would take them to trading standards :fist:

Firewire 13-01-2019 12:59 PM

Isn't it popcorn "chicken" made with cauliflower? I saw them in the supermarket.

Gets worse, I never really understand the need to call vegan food something meat based

Because clearly the taste is not the reason they stopped eating it?

I had 3 juicy steaks last night, delicious.

I was inspired by Pam Shipman

It's just an alternative to popcorn with the word "vegan" on it. It obviously wasn't made to create a vegan version of popcorn. I don't understand why anyone would find it so outrageous. It doesn't affect you. :joker:

I don't think anybody does.

They're just asking why regular normal popcorn (without the butters and syrups) isn't inherently vegan.

Is it not like having a vegan apple?

Jessica. 13-01-2019 03:29 PM

It is vegan, I don't think anyone said it wasn't, nothing about calling imitation popcorn vegan implies that regular popcorn isn't vegan.

Err I think it affects us all if corn is sentient. It changes literally everything. What will happen if it decides to fight back? Iowa and Nebraska at the very least are doomed.

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 13-01-2019 07:47 PM

Chickens eat corn so you’re stealing food from them which is the only explanation i can think of for it not being vegan
