Switching Karma off

So I have tried this karma thing, and I gave it some time as suggested.

I voiced my opinion, that I don’t like the fact that people can take karma away from you so easily.

I mentioned this in another karma thread, that it doesn’t make me feel very good about myself and low and behold a few moments later….. a point gets taken away from me. How thoughtful I thought :bored:

So I am turning it off…. I gave it a try but its just a way of getting back at people you dont like isn’t it in a sneaky snide way.

GiRTh 06-06-2007 02:19 PM

I agree. My Karma goes up in the morning then miraculously takes a nose dive around mid afternoon early evening. I think we should get rid of it.

Michael 06-06-2007 02:19 PM

whats wrong with it? i like it

GiRTh 06-06-2007 02:20 PM

It's a way of sneekily getting back at people by people who can't air their views on the forum.

~Kizwiz~ 06-06-2007 02:21 PM

Yes.... its funny how I said that it didnt make me feel very good about myself and then i go down a point.

Thats like kicking someone when their down really :bored:

Arneldo 06-06-2007 02:22 PM

Okay, but was there any need to start a whole new topic?

Mrluvaluva 06-06-2007 02:24 PM

I was joking, asking for karma, and mine suddenly went right down. If it was public who was voting for you though, it wouldn't happen. Some members are obviously taking karma away, but would they do it if it wasn't anonymous?

Sorry..... I was only trying to have an opinion

GiRTh 06-06-2007 02:26 PM

Why not?

The other thread is like an official one. I think this is more for people to discuss and air their views.

Why not? There have been threads created for far less worthy subjects. What should we start threads on?

We added the option for you to turn Karma off in your profile, I don't see what the big deal is.

Yes. Of course, but I happen to agree with the sentiment of this thread.

I'm going to keep mine on but I'll see how it will take a nosedive at about 4 in the afternoon.

~Kizwiz~ 06-06-2007 02:36 PM

People told me to give it a chance.... I did.... I said I was sad about how much negative karma was being given out.... and then i got one taken away.

I just felt like that was very unfair and sneeky.... and I just wanted to be able to comment on it.

I thought I read somewhere by an admin member that negative karma was going to be watched?

I am grateful to be able to turn it off but i just feel there is too much -karma around

Well obviously some people have issues with it.

Mark 06-06-2007 02:38 PM

It's impossible to keep everyone on a forum this size happy.

There's always going to be a few people who don't like something. Karma was requested for a long time, and now we've added it, a huge majority of people like it.

That may well be the case but there are some very spiteful immature people on this forum and something like this is a way for them to snipe at someone anonymously.

I understand that Mark, and I am not asking for it to be taken away. I thought after a few days it was a good idea, but there seems to be too much negative karma being dished out.

For example,I wont mention the members, but these members have been regular members in the past and they havent been on for some time but they both had -1 karma.... i dont think thats fair

MarkWaldorf 06-06-2007 02:42 PM

I agree Kiz. I don't think your Karma is safe, and it goes down for the most random things. It's pointless as well, cause it's clearly been given to friends in some cases.

Mrluvaluva 06-06-2007 02:44 PM

Why would people take karma off members that haven't posted since it had been started? The only reason I can think of is because they don't like them.

~Kizwiz~ 06-06-2007 02:45 PM

But that it you see Baz..... people are taking karma off people for no reason.

Its not fair

Mrluvaluva 06-06-2007 02:46 PM

I like to give karma to members without any, to cheer them up. Some members like to take it away to be spiteful.

Thats what I have been doing..... but its clear that others have a different game plan.

I wonder if they would take it away if you were able to see who gave and who took???

I somehow think not

Ruth*Star 06-06-2007 02:49 PM

I got 2 points taken of me last night and i don't remeber doing anything wrong.

Sophii3x 06-06-2007 02:49 PM

Mark has given the option of whether we want it or not on our accounts, it just up to everyone to decide.
