If you could go back and live in a certain period of time...

What/When would it be and why?

It could be to experience a certain civilisation, or even to live through a certain event or live through a period of time that included certain historical figures.

Redway 22-02-2019 12:36 AM

Either the Victorian era or the 1999 to 2007 era (the latter’s obviously for personal/sentimental reasons + it being the last era of old-skool R-pop).

Actually 9 Months before Beyonce was born, so I could persuade her parents to buy a TV instead of having sex

LOL... you silly sod.

I'd like to experience Britain's WW2 Home Front, so between 1939-45.

reece(: 22-02-2019 09:02 AM

I'd love to go clubbing in t'90s

Liam- 22-02-2019 09:04 AM

I’d want to go back to 1986 so I could see Queen live at Wembley :flutter:

Ant. 22-02-2019 09:52 AM

The 90s! Only because they had colour TVs and some form of internet and video game  so it'll just be like living in a minimalist 2019  :flutter:

My first thought was, I don't think being a woman in the past wouldn't be that much fun

smudgie 22-02-2019 11:33 AM

50s and 60s, I think when teenagers had the great music , and bands forming, the fashions ,I would LOVE to have been a hippy and gone to Woodstock, mom tells me loads of stories from way back then ,they seemed to have lots of fun, families had values, kids weren't so feral and could play outside with friends,no doubt there were bad things but on the whole it sounds like a fun time of change.

Elliot 22-02-2019 01:28 PM

I don’t think I’d actually like to live in any of the older time periods for multiple reasons lmao

Those times must have been great Joey,so much changing and spoilt for music, some of my favourite songs are oldies, Things seemed so fresh and innocent then.

I love the music of the 60s.
The 50s too.

I have acquired loads of CDs from those times.
Just love the songs.

THIS!

I'm obsessed with 1950's/60s California. The hippies, Woodstock, music in general, "Hollywood" in that era, the cars and architecture/design, the whole surf culture and The Beach Boys. Ugh.

I think this is partly why I'm so excited for Tarantino's new movie, set in 1969 Los Angeles!

LaLaLand 22-02-2019 06:10 PM

There's a few 90's responses here, glad I grew up through that decade (born 1990) - it was a great time to be a kid!!

Crimson Dynamo 22-02-2019 06:19 PM

I think anyone going back 100 years or more would be amazed how small everyone was and how there were no fat people

and no type 2 diabetes.

The 1960s for sure! In fact sometimes I feel like I'm from that era stuck in a 90s body...

Its scary to think quite a few didn't grow up in the 90s. It doesn't feel that long ago :bawling: I loved the 90s all the great tv the great music and when it was the summer holidays they seemed to last forever, waterfights ice pops fairgrounds. Plus endless playing on the ps1

Really doesn't seem that long ago

Daniel-X 22-02-2019 09:17 PM

The 90s for sure. Everything pre 90s doesn’t look my cup of tea.

It was a great time to be a kid wasn't it! I still think it's 10 years ago since 1999 until I realise :skull:.

We had it so lucky in regards to technology, everything was so new and exciting (CDs, games consoles, mobiles phones, gadgets, even things like those little Razr scooters) however now I kind of wish we didn't have all of these things, seems to have gone overboard.

Earlier this week I was listening to a random radio station and they played "Every Morning" by the band Sugar Ray and I got a lump in my throat, I remember that playing one late Summer evening in probably 1999/2000 in my mate's back garden after a big gang of us were chilling after a long day of bike rides and exploring. Was like the song immediately transported me back, reminded me of the sounds, smells etc. Amazing. Wish I could go back even just for a day! Scary how fast life passes us by.
