British tax payers to pay millions to bring hundreds of Jihad's home

A TAXPAYER-funded pot of cash has been set aside to help returning jihadis such as Jack Letts and Shamima Begum.

The central fund, which could run into millions, will help cash-strapped councils pay for the housing and upkeep of hundreds of British nationals who joined IS.

he cash will also be spent on “de-radicalising” children returning from Syria.

Leaked government documents warn local authorities that many children will have had military training and be “committed to terrorism.”

Tory MP Robert Halfon, who chairs the Commons Education Committee, said: “It’s hard to believe that when you have huge pressure on school and college funding, vital resources are being given over to jihadis. What planet are we living on?”

Colonel Richard Kemp, a former Government counter terrorism adviser, said: “The fact that this is public money is disgraceful. We are talking about people involved in activity most of us could not imagine, such as mass rape, murder and torture.

“They should not be allowed to return here, they are terrorists.”

Up to 400 adults and children have already arrived back from Syria and numbers will grow. Begum, 19, who fled her home in East London to join IS, wants to return with her new baby and is appealing Home Secretary Sajid Javid’s decision to strip her of British citizenship.

Well I imagine they’d be prosecuted

I saw the headline and immediately knew it was from The Sun.

Apparently, only 1 in 10 see the inside of a courtroom. Was on a link Cherie posted in the schoolgirl thread.

Also yeah, its the sun so likely exaggerated a bit/lot. But the jist of it is correct. I was very shocked to learn that we just allow hundreds back without prosecution. Obviously we cannot just refuse to let them back (though it seems to be the new plan...but they should be imprisoned on return IMO.

Such a waste of money, risking our people's lives for no good reason. Deradicalisation won't work, not if they're left with their no-good families. It would be better all round to spend the money keeping them out.

There's really no argument to be made against this tbh

Well I mean... Obviously there is... As Guantanamo has had myriad problems with ignoring due process. If it could be done sensibly and properly (say, an island with its own mini-economy and proper housing while people await processing) then MAYBE but I don't think we should be advocating Guantanamo style camps :umm2:.

Im amazed that Gary Lineker isnt tweeting his support for them and blaming "austerity"

MTVN 24-02-2019 02:36 PM

Problem generally is that it's very hard to prove a crime has been committed, there's been some calls recently for reviving a reworded treason law to make it easier to prosecute
