https://news.sky.com/story/ethiopian...ashes-11660677

[An Ethiopian Airlines plane with
157 people on board has crashed
on its way to Nairobi in Kenya,
with deaths reported.
The Boeing 737, carrying 149 passengers
and eight crew members,
was on a regular scheduled flight
when it came down, just six minutes
after taking off from
the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.]

Deaths reported.
Sad news for the 2 nations

Underscore 10-03-2019 08:42 AM

Brand new aircraft too. Used to be a planes geek and the plane that’s crashed was the sole delivered one of a batch they’ve just ordered...

Scary

Eddie. 10-03-2019 08:49 AM

Oh dear. :(

Hope not too many lives are lost...

The fact that it's a brand new plane also puzzles me...

smudgie 10-03-2019 08:51 AM

Tragic.
R.I.P. to all who perished.

Well a plane that has been flying for years is tried and tested. A brand new one more likely to have undiscovered faults.

I have never flown in my life due to anxiety of a plane crash and I’m meant to be going to Greece and Mexico this year and this just makes me not wan an go

arista 10-03-2019 10:07 AM

Yes TS any Faults in
a New 737 Max
"could" be due to using cheaper bits and pieces
then we must know - Fast.
Or was it bad weather
Or was it Terror?

Redway 10-03-2019 10:09 AM

A few geniuses decided to laugh at the article on Facebook. State of 2019 Britain.

If its a 737 Max plane
then the results of this Crash are important.
To be Fair - we do not know yet.

that's for the NTSB to find out now

if Terror, then there is evidence such as explosion damage, and also metal bend outwards and not inwards

another terrible incident for Ethiopian Airlines :(, i can remember that one hijacking (saw that on air crash investigation one of its early seasons of that) which was also horrible

Nicky91 10-03-2019 10:53 AM

wait a minute ''crashed shortly after takeoff''

TWA 800 deja vu all over again i think of, since that one also crashed shortly after takeoff when electrical wire made a spark and ignited the fuel

arista 10-03-2019 11:02 AM

Sadly all have died

7 of them , who died were British Tourists.

arista 10-03-2019 05:22 PM

So sad :(

Cherie 11-03-2019 06:31 AM

RIP all 157 victims, seems there is a problem with the new Boeing, same plane as the Lion Air crash in October which was also new, they better be taking them out of service until it is fixed :umm2:

China has stopped all their 737max planes from flying.
And both black boxes of this tragedy plane are found safe.

Bloody good job! I heard this morning some woman saying decisions would be taken by airlines, not good enough! There should be a blanket ban on flying this aircraft and should have been after the LION aircraft came down

[According to Boeing's website, 16 airlines have taken delivery of the 737 Max 8.
TUI Group has 15 in its fleet and said it is in close contact with the manufacturer,
but has no plans to take them out of service. It is the only airline to have any
such planes registered with the UK's Civil Aviation Authority.]

Despite loads of other nations stop flying them
the UK Still is
