Mozambique: Cyclone Idai 'one of the worst disasters' over 1000 dead

[The cyclone which ripped through Mozambique before hitting neighbouring Zimbabwe and Malawi has been described as "one of the worst weather-related disasters" in the southern hemisphere.
Mozambique's President Filipe Nyusi said the death toll could reach as high as 1,000, while the World Food Programme estimated at least 1.7m people were in the path of Cyclone Idai in Mozambique.]

I object to so much money being sent abroad in foreign aid every year. We should keep it and use it for terrible disasters like this. Imagine how effective that would be, rather than handing out money to dictators who use it to update their fleet of Mercedes.

omg one of my friends did get caught up in it all. just got done with her on the phone now, she was stranded in her car in a small village in Mozambique. she said she had to walk 25km to another town after her car was stranded. she says she saw about 500 bodies against the road and following down the river beside as she walked. and even people alive in the river. this is just a small little village in mozambique. she says there is no way only 1000 people died, in that town she reckons 1000 people must have died. That night when she got to the bigger town she stayed in a guest house and could just hear people screaming and crying all night and splashing in the water and that the water is full of ****ing crocodiles. it sounds so ****ing bad and it still happening. there were literally people hanging in trees trying not to be snapped by the crocs

A tragedy like this puts Brexit in some perspective for me anyway

At least from UK Donations
for this Tragedy have reached £8Million.

From Every news Channel
its appears they can only pick up a few
via Helicopter and some Indian Boat Savers
also had to limit the amount.
At least they can now drop Food
but the water is drank from dirty ditches
which can lead to death - if not treated.

Zimbabwe has real trouble zones - still the worst of the lot
