The case against Adnan Syed

Anyone watch this yet? It's a 4 X 1 hour long episodes HBO Documentary and previously was a Serial Podcast.

Watched the first episode on Wednesday and binged the last 3 last night. It's really good

Spoiler:

I hope after I do some research I'm not turned completely around like Making a Murderer but this case leaves making a murderer for dust imo, it seems outrageously unjust considering they had no DNA or physical evidence. The only evidence they had against him was one guys word who mysteriously had a lot charges against him dropped/very lenient punishments and mainly cell phone data that was later recanted by the expert witness as he wasn't given correct data to work off originally.

To add Adnan refused a plea deal that would have gotten him out in 4 years because he refused to say he was guilty.

HBO has lost all credibility in general .
Not seen this & doubt I will , they're really churning out these long "documentaries" now aren't they .

It's about an 18 year old girl's murder, she's found strangled in some woods and her ex boyfriend 17 year old Adnan Syed is convicted of her murder, so it just investigating the case and following the appeals etc

Do, I'll probably have changed my opinion totally about it by the time you watch though, am doing some side research now because these shows tend to be a bit biased, except for The Staircase, that was really impartial actually

Have you watched the Knox one Niamh? Obviously spoilerz we know the outcome already but actually watching it and seeing the (total lack of :umm2: ) evidence and almost comical inconsistencies, its bizarre that there's ever been a debate over their innocence.

Honestly what all of these cases seem to have in common is incompetent detective work and worse; knowingly manipulated detective work. It's scary really... that so much power is held by a small number of people... even when people are eventually vindicated it's still YEARS of life down the drain and probably a lifetime of knock-on effects.

I actually turned it on last night but the stream I found had no subtitles so I had to turn it off again [emoji1787] I know very little about that one other than the basics.
