Did you grow up in a right wing or left wing family?

I would say I grew up in quite a left wing family , all labour supporters.

Moniqua 28-04-2019 07:50 PM

left but they're still ignorant as fook

Alf 28-04-2019 07:56 PM

Neither

It wasn't an issue, and people didn't go around claiming to be right or left wing, like they do today.

Underscore 28-04-2019 08:05 PM

Right wing.

My dad is a 'rags to riches' Tory and my mum is a middle class Tory who joined in 1992. My mum however has just left the Tories but my dad would never leave.

Both voted Remain.

It rubbbed off on me, as when I was first interested in politics I was a hardcore Tory but then I read up on politics and ended up as a Liberal Democrat.

LeatherTrumpet 28-04-2019 08:14 PM

Alt liberal

Niamh. 28-04-2019 08:16 PM

Neither

wtf is left and right wing? :conf:

Oliver_W 28-04-2019 08:34 PM

Pretty centre, really; Mum has a slight left lean, Dad has a slight right.

If I had to define myself (for whatever point there is) I'd say I don't really have any strong political convictions, but I'd lean right more.

Mainly Conservative my family were.
However more centre of politics were their leanings.

The vast majority always voted Conservative.
However now, including myself the majority would see themselves as more left of centre.

Now supporting Labour.

montblanc 28-04-2019 08:37 PM

politics has never really been a topic in my household though

Twosugars 28-04-2019 08:37 PM

Centre-left

Toy Soldier 28-04-2019 08:45 PM

Centre-left but closer to centre than left.

smudgie 28-04-2019 08:47 PM

Centre left.
Family were Labour, dad was a party member until the day he died.

parmnion 28-04-2019 11:01 PM

It was more a right hand or left hand.

Withano 29-04-2019 12:50 AM

They always kept it private like it was a big deal. I’ve still no idea where they lean.

Elliot 29-04-2019 06:34 AM

Most of my family are pretty right wing, and Christian.

Northern Monkey 29-04-2019 08:24 AM

Left.
Grew up under Thatcher and everyone around was Labour and still are.

bitontheslide 29-04-2019 08:27 AM

i grew up in a family where my parents showed common sense. Politics were never a main theme in life

Josy 29-04-2019 01:18 PM

Politics were always kept private when we were growing up, it's still seen as rude to ask anyone who they vote for etc in our village

Nicky91 29-04-2019 01:23 PM

parents are right wing

they had supported Pim Fortuyn during the elections, and were sad he got assassinated

and now they are anti mark rutte, and pro geert wilders

i'm myself more bit towards SP (socialist party) which isn't too extreme right wing and PVDD (Party for Animals = Party voor de dieren) bc of my love for animals of course

Livia 30-04-2019 09:55 AM

I grew up in Newham, Labour stronghold... but we never really discussed politics. Your vote is between you and the ballot box.
