Oscar Nominated Director John Singleton dies aged 51
 

He had been in a coma following a stroke on April 17. His family made the decision to turn off his life support yesterday.

His films include Boyz N The Hood, Poetic Justice, Higher Learning, Shaft, Baby Boy, 2 Fast 2 Furious and Four Brothers.

For Boyz N The Hood, he was the youngest person ever nominated for Best Director at age 24, and the first African-American to be nominated for the award.

He also directed the music video for Michael Jackson's Remember The Time
