my dad had discovered you can win most points with words who have Q in them

and since then he usually wins, either against me, or against computer (we also have scrabble game on tablet)

the computer there comes up with these weird and also swear words, and then they are allowed, but when i write them they aren't :o

I hope you have to use English words in international tournaments cause the Dutch would have more of an advantage than Caster Semenya.

Not over scrabble, monopoly  it goes on for so long everyone gets irritated

I love Scrabble, play it quite often, I am surprised at some of the words that are allowed such as Qi etc. It's good for learning too, we don't argue over it though we usually have a laugh especially when certain words are dropped.

I remember when me and Smudgie had an online game of Scrabble, but sadly I had to put the kybosh on it as Smudgie, well she just was Smudgie..

Beso 02-05-2019 09:00 AM

Typical smudgie..

Vicky. 02-05-2019 09:02 AM

Ha. Often. Because of my annoying habit of picking 2 letter words with a load of points, instead of just playing properly :D

But yes, monopoly has caused serious arguments in my family before, some that have resulted in days of not speaking to each other, its taken so seriously

I always go for Mayfair and just upgrade that bitch to high heaven....then sit and wait....mwahhahaha.

Liam- 02-05-2019 09:04 AM

There have been many occasions where a game of monopoly has ended up in screaming matches, it’s a good way to get built up frustrations out

Scrabble? Not so much

Vicky. 02-05-2019 09:07 AM

I swear I am not exagerrating when I say I am positive monopoly has resulted in multiple actual murders at some stage in the country..it inspires such emotion

I do this, and I also refuse any and all swaps (not sure if swaps and deals are 'official rules' but thats what my family play else, noone ever gets a street or anything) which absolutely infuriates everyone.

It’s called ‘Monopoly: The property trading game’ for a reason! :oh:

I refuse to play with my sister cause she does the exact same thing, it makes the game last forever and no-one can actually make any progression, I hate it

Ahaha of course :D I have never actually read the rules and am a little dim usually, nevermind on a morning

The only time I will swap is if I land on someones hotel if anyone manages to get one and I have no cash so would bust. OR, if I can trade for the reds or greens to make a complete set. I find mayday and park lane to be duds for me, noone ever lands on them if I have them. The orange streets tend to have people on them constantly too..which I find odd as surely all the ones with should have the same odds of having people land on them. But its always red and yellow. With some on green but not as many, but people landing on them makes you a fortune so its worth the chance.

Do you all put the fines in the middle and if you land on no parking you win the lot?

Josy 02-05-2019 10:35 AM

I've genuinely never finished a game of monopoly in my life I always get fed up as it lasts too long [emoji23]

Cherie 02-05-2019 10:56 AM

My eldest son and his friend were playing once I think they were maybe 10 or so, anyway my son launched the board across the room and I was mortified with our bad parenting skills, until the friend says my Mum always ends Monopoly games by doing that :hehe::laugh:

Crimson Dynamo 02-05-2019 11:34 AM

When I played the kids I would alwys be the bank and would say "oh no what is that dog doing now!" and when they looked around would rob £500 and they never caught on
