Has the first female Doctor been a success?

For me no. Bored already. The Doctor is quintessentially male for me. Get it back to normal.

Well she has been in terms of ratings. The writing hasn't been great though

It's not the doctor being female or the actress that's the problem - the showrunning and writing last season was abysmal. It would have been bad no matter who had the lead role. As I said in another thread - it's like a bad episode of 90's Grange Hill.

I liked her. I didn't really like the series though. I loved the rosa park and spider episodes though. Not keen on her assistants at all they need to go. I think she will come into her own next series

The problem with the last series was the writing being amateurish to extremes. It's difficult to judge Jodie Whitaker's performance since the writing was so limited.

Love her.

It's a shame the writing was so noticeably abysmal for he really first outing, as people blamed her instead of the show.

The writing hasn't been amazing for a while, but to regular viewers nothing seems wrong.

Many were simply looking for faults with Whittaker as the doctor, and the bad writing has been misplaced for bad acting which is wrong on everyone's counts (except Ryan. He could probably ruin the best of scripts).

the writing for the series wasn't the best, they really didn't capture the adventure/ doctor who essence. What we got could've worked in any other sci-fi drama tbh.

I was a bit rattled when the doctor was revealed to female because I was afraid the show was doing it for the optics rather than it being right for the character however, Jodie Whittaker has been outstanding. To me she really embodied the doctor and the gender switch did not feel jarring at all.

Still have not watched the newest series.

I love her but the writing was terrible last series
