Total ignore. (or at least better than the vbulletin 'ignore')

Been a few people asking about the ignore function recently, so been checking if old scripts still work and it seems they do, though not quite as effecitvely as I remember them too.

For the moment, can only find firefox but I am sure it can be added on other browsers too. Will look at this also at some stage.

On firefox download greasemonkey if you don't already have it
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir.../greasemonkey/

Then go here and install this script

http://userscripts-mirror.org/scripts/show/24465

If done correctly, this will stop you getting the 'X has posted' messages.

I tested it on one member and it does work for the removing their posts totally. It used to hide threads completely of those on your ignore list IIRC..and also remove when people quote your ignored members, and I plan to at some stage add to this script to include that again if its possible (but been ****ing ages since I did scripting so might be useless now), but that could take a while, so hpoefully in the meantime..this will do. Much much better than the vbulletin ignore feature which..doesn't ignore people really. Though of course, you still need to add to your normal ignore list for this to work.

OK fairly sure the only way I personally could do the quote/full thread thing, is to make it so you have to physically add names of those you want to ignore into the script..Again, will try brainstorming later. But no promises

wait how can I still see vickys posts??:oh:

Livia 05-06-2019 09:47 AM

I might have a go at this (that mean's I'll get Alex to look at it), thanks Vicky.

Of course, it won't stop you having to endure posts from ignored members when someone else quotes them, and it won't stop them from continually quoting your posts as a bit of a bait... so I think the only solution is to have everyone you're ignoring bundled into the back of a van and driven away.

Vicky. 05-06-2019 09:47 AM

You cannot put staff on ignore :hehe: So I can pester you forever more

We all learned that some time ago.

No one would dare ignore you Vicky even if they could.

I might be able to sort this..no promises but in theory, there should be a way to basically, remove anything that features an ignored users name at all..also fairly sure this used to feature that..but they managed to do it in a way where it went by your ignore list on site. The only way I can think to do it, is to manually add the usernames you want rid of. Will mess later and see.

This situation is getting stupid, if you can’t be an adult and realise that this place is for a bit of fun and not to be taken to heart.

People must have no life if seeing someone you don’t like post on here gives you so much grief.

This will get in me infractacted. But grow the fcuk up, childish ****e.

I still like my idea of bundling them into the back of a van....

Not that who other people ignore is your business at all, but I enjoy my time on here chatting with people I like. I don't want to have to endure the baiting that goes on. It's tedious and I shouldn't have to "put up with it". No one should. Your last sentence was uncalled for.

While I wouldn't use the ignore function myself, its clearly important to others. And really, I don't really understand pretty much judging people for wanting to not talk to certain users for whatever reason  Could be because they are constantly baited, could be because they find the users posts offensive, could be anything really. If you don't want to use ignore, don't. But others want it so..not seeing the issue.

There are some members who will literally reply to every post you make and it can get draining month after month

Josy 05-06-2019 11:08 AM

I messaged James about this last night after the other thread

I do think it's something the forum would benefit from so heres hoping it can be done through the forum without needing add ons.

While I agree with you in the main, if someone is going out of their way to post in threads just to cause drama or rushes into a thread because a particular person has posted it just to abuse them it can be upsetting and we are not all made the same way so its good to have different options for different folks

Josy 05-06-2019 11:12 AM

Let's see who actually uses it after requesting it though ;) :joker:

It would be great to try it, but really I wouldn't encourage you to knock yourselves out working on this. I'm not desperate for it, even though it's a nice thought. It's good to remember sometimes that some of those you're ignoring are still so irritated by you that they continue to post, even though you're not reading them or replying.

And totally off-topic, where the hell is Niamh? Has someone signed her leave chit?

Insulting people for wanting to improve their experience on this website without anyone getting belittled or personally attacked... and you’re talking about childish?

Mitchell 05-06-2019 12:59 PM

I’ll very happily use this feature :) it’ll make life a lot easier
