Your views on mixed race relationships?
 

So my son has a new girlfriend. She is absolutely lovely. She is also black.

I have some anxiety over this cos I know full well there are a lot of bigots out there that would be funny about a white lad with a black girlfriend.

What are your views on this. How prevalent is racism these days?

skin color should NEVER be a restraint or deciding factor as far as having a significant other goes

I wouldn't be alive if interracial dating didn't exist so I'm a tad biased when I say I love it!

I don't think colour matters. Only the way you feel.

I suppose it depends where you live, nowadays mixed couples are very common.

It literally wouldn't even occur to me to recognise it as one, it would be completely normal.

I don’t think you have anything to worry about tbh, not in this day and age anyway. You’ll always have one bigot out there, but hopefully you’re surrounded by folks who don’t give a toss.

Definitely not something to worry about in 2019.

I doubt they will have many issues from other people, its not uncommon

I'm in one and neither of us have had any trouble, then again, I live in London where you're surrounded by people from different cultures so nobody cares.

Colour is irrelevant unless you're a racist

For me, great, to me whoever you fall in love with is all that matters.
Nothing else, should matter one bit.

It's sad this could even get a raised eyebrow reaction and even worrying, should it do so.

Mixed race relationships would never bother me in the slightest. Like others have said, we’re not in the 50s anymore.

No one will care nowadays its common.

...and much of my close and extended family wouldn’t exist...the only thing with any relationship is the connection, the love, the bond ..and being great to and for each other...that’s all there is...

it's not something that i would even give a second thought to. If other people have a problem with it, it is their problem. I've long since passed caring what other people think and I would never let anyone dictate to me who I should or should not be with

Celebrate the fact that your son has found someone special.
My daughter has the most wonderful fella, loving, kind, funny....and of mixed race.
My son has a partner that is American, older than him, has 3 kids...and a multi millionaire.
The only fact that matters is that they are all very happy.

I wouldn't have thought it was a big deal these days?
