Canada's Drag Race [available now on BBC Three]

@ Mokka !!!

(because clearly the word oversaturation doesn't exist in the World of Wonder offices)

Marsh. 27-06-2019 07:17 PM

Bloody hell, Ru can't be arsed doing drag for one version, but THREE?

Brook Lynn's impact?

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 27-06-2019 07:38 PM

Imagine how tired we are

Morgan. 27-06-2019 07:39 PM

That means there’s gonna be 4 seasons of Drag Race per year :skull:

Daniel-X 27-06-2019 07:49 PM

I probs won’t bother with this I mean... I don’t know if I can handle four series a year.

Shaun 27-06-2019 07:51 PM

5 thank you! Not here for this Thai erasure!

But yes I'm not sure the UK/Canada ones will be much more than one-offs, I can't see Ru and Michelle having the energy to do US, All Stars and UK every single year.

Perhaps something like...
2019: UK 1
2020: All Stars 5, US 12, Canada 1
2021: All Stars 6, US 13, UK 2
2022: All Stars 7, US 14, Canada 2

and so on  since Thailand is its own entity and has no real input from Ru or WOW.

Daniel-X 27-06-2019 07:56 PM

I think UK will only span a series or two anyway. I can’t see it really taking off and being a gig franchise like the original, but then again who knows. Can’t comment on Canada as I don’t know the demographic and viewing habits.

Mokka 27-06-2019 09:54 PM

Ru isn't a judge or on the "panel". The article I read calls is Drag Race Canada... not Rupaul's drag race Canada. Ru says he gives it his blessing... but he isn't directly involved.

By this alone I give it one to two seasons tops. Shows like this don't survive in Canada because the judges are made up of no name people who think to much of their own opinions.... and so the talent stays away from it.

Format sounds a little iffy, too. Not produced by WOW at all.

Saph 29-09-2019 04:05 PM

is Brooke Lynn really qualified to be a judge.. shes one of the most mediocre finalists

Stacey McKenzie is a mess in a bad way

safe to say i'll be giving this a miss

I remember a year ago I was in the @WorldOfWonder offices, just after filming season 11, and I said “I want a Canadian Drag Race...and I want to be a judge!”

Aside from Brooke, what an atrocious panel.

I think, at best, I'll just watch highlight clips on Youtube as I do with Thailand's show.

UK, All Stars and the Normal series is enough for me.

zrc 05-10-2019 08:15 PM

Oh good. Brooke Lynn can enter that one and lose again.

tfw when you post in a thread without reading any of the posts above yours

Withano 05-10-2019 08:19 PM

It’ll be kinda cool if all stars took contestants from USA, uk and Canada tho

Why would I?

This begins July 2nd

Captain.Remy 14-05-2020 05:07 PM

I mean....Brooke Lynn Hytes is a good drag queen but is she really THAT legitimate to host this so early? In a few years why not, but she just got off Drag Race and could possibly have another shot in All Stars. And she really isn't known to be a big drag name out there.

If anything, Bianca Del Rio should host some kind of Drag TV show (once Ru steps down, if he ever does). Just imagine her roasting tf out of the contestants but still caring for them :joker:

Saph 14-05-2020 05:20 PM

if it was someone other than Brooke Lynn I might've given it a go.. but shes one of the more forgettable contestants from one of the most forgettable seasons

In her defence, she really is. She's a ****ing Miss Continental :joker:

I mean, so is Naysha Lopez, but shut up
