He also discusses sexual abuse he faced as a teenager from older men, so it's quite an open and honest discussion.

Good for him!

Because he's opening up about his struggles as it could help other people who feel the same.

It's important.

But.
After seeing him on TV over many years and thinking he’s a right tosser.Nobody’s going to convince me that he’s doing it to help other bisexuals yada yada yada.
But more for his own relevance.
Imo.

Ant. 04-07-2019 06:43 PM

I always thought he was hot so this is brilliant news for me

Ant. 04-07-2019 06:44 PM

Omg @ the OP :(

Bless him he's still coming to terms with it all it seems, I hope he doesn't delete it and stays honest

He's a radio presenter, who all blather on about their lives on their radio shows.

Nobody says "Why tell us?" about the many other mundane aspects of their lives they share, so why take issue with this?

I don’t listen to him and all the other mundane aspects of their lives aren’t all over the tabloids.

bots 04-07-2019 07:49 PM

whatever sexuality he is, he will always be a tosser

Of course they are, otherwise tabloids wouldn't exist.

Just sounds like attention seeking to me .

If he's suffered abuse when he was younger then obviously that's awful, but he's not the only person who's gone through trauma.

Because who's interested? Gay people are just another facet of society, why they want to keep singling themselves out as different is beyond me. Live your life and be happy... the only people who are concerned are idiots who will give him grief.

It's still important to a lot of people.

Iain's message may help a lot of people who are struggling to come to terms with their sexuality.

I think it's important to celebrate it.

Well said. Some straights may not be interested but it is important to others

I see what you're saying. It's just that, making a big issue of it brings out all the nasties to have a bit of a pop. But I do understand that there might be young people struggling with their identity and something like this might help. I really hope though, that someone realising they're gay is a personal thing for them, and a perfectly natural thing, no one judging them, no one giving them a hard time... just just acceptance.

Making a big deal out of it makes it a big deal, when its not a big deal. Basically. I kind of agree with that, but also agree with the view that more visible LGBT people out there, makes it easier for others, so in that sense celebs and such need to make a big deal out of their sexuality so others know.

I think its different for bisexual people than gay people too. I am bisexual myself and would feel like I was..stepping on gay peoples toes or somthing by making a huge fuss over how I fancy both women and men. I never made a fuss over coming out, I didn't 'come out' in the traditional sense anyway, just randomly invited my girlfriend for dinner with my parents and that was that.

So yeah, am conflicted on the 'celebs should make a big fuss'or 'noone cares' argument. Yeah, these days most people do not really care about someones sexuality, the only ones who do care are the few homophobes who will make a fuss about it. However, those homophobes are also the reason that there should be a bit of a fuss made. To basically drown out their cries and show that more people are comfortable in themselves to be openly gay.

As I said though, as a bi person, I feel that my voice in this is..not needed as it affects actual gay people much much more.
