Lip Syncs where the wrong person won?
 

Which drag race lip syncs do you think the wrong person won/the loser of the lip sync was better?

For me the two that first come to my head are:

Monet vs Kameron (Good As Hell) - Think Monet won this, had more originality in her performance whereas Kameron rehashed moves from previous lip syncs/performances

Bebe vs BenDeLa (Nobody's Supposed To Be Here) - Who cares if Bebe took off her wig??? She absolutely KILLED it and I think regardless of if she had kept the wig on Dela still would've won just because of the whole self-elimination lipstick thing

The ones that stand out most for me are Rebecca vs. Jade, Detox vs. Coco, April vs. Vivacious (ish), Alyssa vs. Detox and Alaska vs. Phi Phi

...this is one when no one should have sashayed away...I mean, the right queen won of course...but in any other time, in any other place...in any other universe...every time I watch that battle, I feel quite choked..

Dela vs. Bebe is a good one... Bebe gave pure drama there and they ignored it in favour of reality TV drama.

Most All Stars lipsyncs are a little dubious I think, but then there's no lives on the line so it doesn't really matter (Alaska vs. Phi Phi being one, but Alaska definitely beat Katya both times).

Scarlet vs. Ra'Jah... don't get me wrong, Ra'Jah did brilliantly, but it was her third lipsync and Scarlet didn't deserve to go home with a performance like that. Should've been the double-shantay instead of Yvie and Brooke's uninteresting gymnastics.

Acid Betty vs. Naomi - Naomi literally lied down and rolled around while Acid Betty - with the far better track record - gave birth.

In terms of the way the lipsync was edited, I would argue that Kandy Ho vs. Jaidynn was probably another one... the camera continually cuts away when it's clear that Kandy does something memorable, and while Jaidynn did a great job, I can't help but suspect she lost.

Oh and if anyone says Kennedy vs. Katya I'll fight you

Adore vs Trinity. I know it was probably based on her poor performance on literally every other challenge that season, but if we’re judging it on lip-sync alone.. Trinity ATE HER UP.

Scarlet vs Ra'jah
Nina vs Silky
Trixie vs Pearl
Acid vs Naomi

Oh yeah, Trixie/Pearl is another common one.

At the time I actually kinda liked the weird, manic flailing that Pearl was doing? And Trixie didn't really do much beyond some cutesy bouncing moves. I dunno, it was more suited to the song I guess but I don't feel that strongly either way about who "won" that lipsync.

The majority of the time I think Ru makes the right decision.. there's only been a handful of times (silky vs nina for example) where I've not agreed.

Another was Blu vs Cheryl

Acid/Naomi.

Acid Betty had done great up to that point, and she would've absolutely murdered the others in the Wizard of Oz challenge. Probably why she got the boot when she did.

I was genuinely shocked Naomi beat Acid Betty at the time. The former barely had an edit at that point and I thought the latter's track record would save her.

I do like them both but I am glad we got to see more of Naomi, tbh.

Acid Betty needs to come back for an All Stars #JusticeforAcid

Acid lost to Naomi because Ru was horny and found Naomi super hot, point blank. I see no other justification to it.

And obviously the robbery of Nina vs Silky. A true crime tbh

Not necessarily the wrong winner - but in AS4 the double shanty in the comeback episode should've been between Naomi and Gia, with Monique winning her lip-sync against Latrice.

both were double-shantay worthy tbh, but Naomi was noticeably better than Gia and Gia had nothing really to offer the competition :shrug:

Kennedy vs. Trixie :hee:

Pretty sure the producers really did set up the "Latrice vs Monique" thing and edited it out as if one of them was going home. Ru knew from the beginning Latrice was coming back regardless, it was all for show. No way he would have missed the opportunity of having one of the biggest face of the show not lipsyncing against the queen who sent her home.

If Naomi ever did something worth of winning, it was her lipsync against Monet. She really embodied the song and added an extra dimension to it. Against Gia she was better than her, but it wasn't outstanding (even though that thing she did going down on the floor was impressive tbh). Gia was on AS4 so Ru can say he casted a trans person, and for added drama Gia could bring.
