Water Slides, do you like them, and are you aware of the possible dangers of them?

last night i saw a debate on a holiday show here on our dutch tv about water slides and how safe/dangerous they exactly are

one guy who was on holiday with his wife and kids he went off the slide the wrong way than you're supposed to

he had a head injury at first, and later seemed he had brain trauma, and had to recover and get treatment in america (very expensive treatment)

so there was a sign with the water slide, it said ''we recommend you going off the slide the correct way'' but it never indicates the dangers of if you go off the slide the wrong way

so you can say own risks but i think the camping managers who put the slide there need to make it very Obvious and clear what the dangers are if you go off the wrong way WITH good explanation about what trauma you get from that

at least the family got an apology and compensation from the camping, since this had been financially hard for them, with expensive treatment etc

but do you like water slides, and are you aware of the possible dangers of those slides?

those 2 pictures are just examples, but you also have larger slides

but anyway all slides have risks of nasty injuries, if you go off them the wrong way, end with your head against the edge of the end of slide before you hit the water

I tend to like them yeah. Am a bit skitzy about them though generally speaking as when I was a young kids, someone put razorblades into a bunch of the slats on the slide at our local pool...obviously this resulted in a couple of people being ripped to shreds and the whole pool quickly turning red too..which was..nice. Quite traumatic, as a 10 year old, seeing that and the injuries. It did actually seem the injuries were mostly superficial mind, just quite gruesome looking and a lot of blood D:

I think that was a "thing" years ago as people did that a local water slide place near us. It actually shut down in the end as it kept happening and the insurance.premiums sky rocketed.

I remember talking about it before it happened with friends, and some being convinced it was just an urban myth that never actually happened. So clearly it was a thing even then if we had already heard about it..then it happened, and a few friends were quite redfaced as they had basically said anyone thinking anyone would do that was an utter twat, and so on

also that father was Lucky he wasn't knocked out by hitting his head, he could've possibly drowned too

but yeah brain trauma is quite serious damage to you, and i think despite it being expensive it was good to fly to america and get that special treatment

he was with his wife in that show's studio last night, they told that after the accident his wife and kids had to continue most of holiday without him, just a few visits (more wasn't possible bc he was in surgery quite a long time) so yeah that kinda ruined their holiday mood, but thoughts were more at a speedy recovery for him

I went on holiday like 3 times every year and would always get time off school so my mam didn't pay full price during the holidays to go abroad 3 times a year.

Most of the hotels had slides/entertainment so my mam could have a good drink. i put her carrot oil before all on my front and went down the slide and i fell out at the bottom spiral and thankfully landed on a load of bark and didn't break my neck

then this spanish life guard was making sure i was okay and asking me to move my back and stuff and he had his big manly hands on me and all i was thinking was omg will you just finger me (he never, sadly)... and he actually started shouting at me before he even knew i went down the slide in an improper way

I think it got blown up a bit round our way, people were saying it was dirty needles....but it happened with razor blades, more than once too.
