Blondie star Debbie Harry reveals she was raped at knifepoint by an armed robber

BLONDIE star Debbie Harry has revealed she was once raped at knifepoint.

The music legend said she and then-boyfriend Chris Stein were tied up by an armed robber.

She wrote of the attack at her New York home: “Then he poked round searching for anything worth anything.

“He piled up the guitars and Chris’s camera and then he untied my hands and told me to take off my pants.

“He ********* me. And then he said, ‘Go clean yourself’.”

But Debbie, now 74, shrugged off the attack, adding: “The stolen guitars hurt me more.”

It is not known whether the rape — believed to have taken place before she shot to fame in the 1970s — was reported to police.
Yikes:(

I don't believe she means that flippant comment, any victim of sexual abuse will say how long lasting it is, and I've been a fan of hers for years and this has never been mentioned before while she has been otherwise very open, so it must have left its marks...

Horrific. I assume she's put emotional distance between the attack and herself which is quite common in historic sexual assault but not too healthy if she hasn't come to to terms with it or worked through any trauma in a healthy way. I'm just assuming though, she could have easily gotten the help she needs prior to revealing all of this and she's simply in a place she can talk about it.

I hope the rapist got caught before he could do it again.

I adore Debbie and have followed her since before they hit the big time. She came from a culture that was harsh, times were tough, but she is a very mentally strong woman, that's why she was successful. She just didn't let that horrible event get in the way of what she wanted to achieve.

Sure was. The full article also describes an encounter she had with someone who she believed to be Ted Bundy. I trimmed that because she's been talking about it for years.
