It's a sad state of affairs on both sides of the atlantic that this video is still relevant today.

That video doesn't really relate to rhetoric used by Trump. As far as I know he's never used the "they're taking our jobs" thing, and he's not been against legal migration.

No, he just made out that Mexicans are dangerous rapists, and that people can't criticise him if their ancestral countries are, ahem, '****holes'.

He makes out that the press are the enemy of the people, that minorities are a threat and he celebrates publically when someone who criticises him suffers misfortune (context: The president of the united states cheered when a member of, congress, I believe, had their house broken into after he criticised Trump.

Most of what he does is steeped in fascist logic.

Some are. Some of every race are. But the quote in its full shows he doesn't think they all are.

Thanks for posting a quote that illustrates my point. He's painting immigrants as rapists and drug barons and he only offers a reluctant 'some of them might be good people' at the end which suggests he considers most of them bad. If you think that quote disproves what I'm saying then you're very much wrong.

So clearly there are immigrants who aren't rapists and drug barons.

That's some mental gymnastics right there.

He is saying that 'Mexico doesn't send their best' which is him saying that immigrants are inherently bad and his comments about drugs and rape afterwards solidifies that. You're ignoring the vast majority of the quote to find ways to justify your agenda and it's not gonna work since this quote encapsulates why Trump is a racist and why the extreme right have been enboldened in recent years.

Oliver posted an opinion, he has not posted facts. He posted a quote that, in all honesty, benefits what I'm saying more and he's done some incredible mental gymnastics to try to make it fit his point of view.

Then why hasn't he even tried (or even suggested) to block all migration from Mexico, in the same way he did with a handful of terror-infected countries?

And his condemnation of ' the squad'....That's him not being against legal migrants and American born ethnic minorities?
