Major power cut leaves larges parts of England without electricity

https://news.sky.com/story/large-par...r-cut-11781338

[Northern Powergrid said 110,000 customers lost power on Friday evening.
The company supplies 3.9m homes in the North East as well as Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire.]
[Western Power Distribution (WMD) which supplies the Midlands, the South West and Wales, also said they have a "major incident".]
["We believe this is due to a failure on National Grid's network, which is affecting our customers."]

Not good news at all/

That's a bit uncaring and unfunny.

M21 foretelling these power cuts

Twosugars 09-08-2019 05:57 PM

I'd imagine the government would make noise if the Russians hacked the system

People keep telling me its off all over the north east, but mines still on (luckily) so thats fake news!

QE hospital in Gateshead..their ****ing generator is off. So..people are going to die due to negligence. Bloody ridiculous tbh.

Hmm seems only London areas is actually news? As I siaid, much of the north east too. Including a large hospital which have been negligent enough to not maintain their emergency generator..:umm2:

bitontheslide 09-08-2019 07:18 PM

it could be a malicious hack into the national grid, we will need to wait and see what comes from it

Kizzy 09-08-2019 07:33 PM

Could it not be the freak weather? There's just been a massive storm here, shocked to hear about the hospital Vicky! That could be a catastrophe! :(

I know, its ridiculous, should be first priority surely, having the backup generator bloody working. Fairly sure a large amount of people are going to..well die. Someones getting fired I think..

I was wondering that, we had some crazy thunder a few days ago (the house actually shook), there were a few power cuts in local villages after it (not here :hee: ) and there are now a few areas locally where there's no mobile reception at all and others where there's "basic" but no 3g/4g so it seems like it knocked out some mobile phone masts.

I'd guess a bigger storm in the wrong place could do some damage to the grid?
