Famous people from Kelso have included the leading suffragette supporter Georgiana Solomon who was born here in 1844, the civil engineer Sir James Brunlees (1816–1892) who constructed many railways in the United Kingdom as well as designing the docks at Avonmouth and Whitehaven.
Me..my mates in the 90s...and this lot copied and pasted from wiki.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catego...ottish_Borders I know each and every rugby player mentioned...adam Roxburgh since primary 1...he was strange at school..scared of thunder..always had a sick note for swimming from his mum who worked in the chemists...I was better than him at school until about 15...he went the right way..I went the other.. He will admit I was better than him at rugby though at that age if I was to drag him on tibb..to prove a point.. John Jeffrey. .big white haired flanker..turned wanker..was my hero till I found out about his hypocrisy when he turned his nose up at me in the white Swan in kelso one night. Do you know who I am I asked him, yes he said...this a man who smashed a treasured trophy through disrespectful drunkenness on princess street in edinburgh..and a man rumoured to have pumped princess anne...local judge these days.. Alan tait..rugby legend..both codes..spunked in Jeremy gusgott British lions rugby socks the night before tait scored a break through finger pointing try to beat the south Africans. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catego...ottish_Borders Andrew kerr..played for Scotland at cricket and rugby..first person. .his brother jake was my pe teacher at primary school, p7 I beat adam Roxburgh to win schools sport champion...he failed at swimming and didn't get any points.. Ross ford...most capped scotland player ever...taught my boy rugby in his spare time..great guy..very humble..his dad gets called toot.. Roger bAird. ..49 odd caps for Scotland on the wing...no tries in the 5 nations though..but set up the best scottish try in the 80s when he danced up the wing in Cardiff. |
And John robson my dad's 2nd cousin got a bronze in the 1980 commonwealth games for the 1500 Mtrs
|
Only ones I am aware of are Daniel Craig and Michael Owen
|
James Acaster - comedian (he went to my school a while before me!)
Hugh Dennis - actor and comedy show panelist Some snooker player Sienna Guillory - actress, Jill Valentine from the Resident Evil movies |
Sir Ian McKellen, Kay Burley and George Formby are probably the three most famous. Loads of minor celebs like David McIntosh, Tanya Bardsley, soap actors and rugby players too.
|
Cillian Murphy
