GreedFall

Has anyone else gotten this? It's kinda like the old Bioware RPGs, set on a newly discovered island, story seems to revolve around colonialism vs natives in a mythical world

It only has 74 on meta

It's generally been getting decent reviews, it was only made by a team of 30ish people, and for what the game is, it's pretty impressive. It doesn't have the super fine polish of a AAA game, but it's worth encouraging smaller studios, especially when they put this much effort in

Aquired this for PC today, definitely getting strong DA2 vibes. Which is fine with me because, although seemingly most people hated it, I really enjoyed DA2 . Less than origins but actually more than Inquisition.

I've noticed that there is no fetch quests, all the sidequests are actually fleshed out stories in their own right, the only thing that comes close is the long camp discovery quest, but that is one that you kinda do as the game progresses anyway.

I read that in an interview with the devs months ago, it was one of their main aims and quite appealing really. They said something along the lines of, we want to make a 30+ hour game with meaningful quests, not a 100+ hour long game where 80 of those hours are the same things over and over.

Does make me think somewhat of Mass Effect 2 (and one and three, but mostly 2)where there was similarly pretty much zero "grind", all main story / character quests. And it's easily one of the best RPGs of all time, so I sort of hope more games go down this route?

I mean, I love many "open" RPGs too but it doesn't have to be every game. I love Skyrim and FO4 as they are for example, but FFXV would have been much better served with more scripted storyline quests and fewer open sections (IMO).

It's really refreshing to have a focused RPG again. The game does start off slowish, but it picks up pace after a bit
