Your top 5 most overrated characters in TV history?

It doesn't mean that you necessarily hate the character (although it can do if you do find a character overrated and you hate them) but basically it's a character that the fandom loves and you just don't get it.

For me this is probably my 5 most overrated characters on TV.

1. Spike (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) He compromised the show in a multitude of different ways so that's why he is getting my vote. But I know that he is incredibly popular within the Buffy fandom so for me it is a combined thing of hating his character and finding the Buffy fandom crazy for liking him.

2. Jon Snow (Game Of Thrones) Again I feel that he compromised the last 3 seasons of GOT with a massive over focus on him above all of the other characters, I'll leave it at that as I've moaned about him as a character a lot on here in the past so I'll just leave it at the basics.

3. Daryl Dixon (The Walking Dead) I actually don't dislike Daryl, my main thing that I don't get with Daryl is why he is the most popular character on the show when all he does really is grunt through the first 8 seasons, I mean I get it that he isn't atrocious like a lot of them on that show can be (which you'd pray to god that the Comics did a better job with likeability) but he just doesn't do a lot imo so that's why I've nominated him in my list.

4. Sawyer (Lost) I mean I haven't watched Lost in years, but I do remember Sawyer always just being apart of the Soapy storylines, but unlike Kate who got attack from a lot of the fandom for being a Soapy character, I remember Sawyer being one of (if not) the most popular character on Lost which on a personal preference I think that there were at least 5 or 6 characters that were better. I do remember Sawyer being funny sometimes though I'll give him that.

5. Barbara Gordon (Gotham) She had a couple of fun seasons for me, but overall I felt that her writing was too psychotic for me to really get behind, they kept dramatically rewriting her personality every season which I didn't like, especially the seasons 4 & 5 versions of Barbara which would then be rewritten midway through those seasons. And her possible relationship with Gordon has to be the worst possible relationship that Gotham had to offer imo.

I apologize for the long winded explainations.

I'm interested to read other people's overrated characters lists.

I've not seen any seasons of Gotham, but I don't like the sound of what they do to Barbara! Do you mean she was written to be psychotic, or just that it was inconsistent? Either way, she's fairly easy to write, she's a great character in the comics but not exactly complex.

The Barbara he's referring to is not Gordon's daughter Barbara / Batgirl, but her mother Barbara Kean (I don't think this is comic-canon) who is batsh*t crazy (excuse the pun) through most of the show. He doesn't have a daughter at all for most of the era of the show (it's set in Bruce Wayne's early teens).

Ohh okay! Babs Sr was in the comics a few years back, when the Joker was wearing his torn off face like a mask, but I can't really remember a lot about her.
