Superhero comic books and adaption (general)

So I semi-derailed two threads by asking questions and talking about things only tangentially related, so thought a general thread might be in order :joker:

What comics if any do you like?
I don't really likeMarvel comics, just DC and some indies.
- Batman
- Batgirl
- Teen Titans (but only when written by Adam Glass, the current one)
- Super Sons
- Superman (but NOT by Bendis)
- Birds of Prey

I read both Marvel and DC, more so the former but I love both.

Comics I read the most:

Spider-Man
Avengers
X-Men (Astonishing X-Men, X-Men Legacy and Uncanny X-Men's extinction team led by Cyclops being my favourites)
Thor
Batman
Justice League (I especially love Grant Morrison's run in the 90's, not a fan of the New 52 and Rebirth)
Teen Titans (2003 - 2011 run is my favourite)

I also love Marvel's Cosmic comics, especially Annihilation, Realm of Kings, War of Kings, The Thanos Imperative and Annihilators.

I quuiiite like Justice League, depends on the writer and lineup. I'm the same with Green Lantern, the Corps reminds me of the Jedi Order haha.

DCeased and Batman White Knight are both "alternate universe" short runs, but I'm really enjoying both. I'd like a side series with Jon and Damian as Supes and Bats.

I've never actually read a comic :umm2: I find the format very hard to follow. However I know a LOT of DC and Marvel lore from "reading around" the comics on various Wiki sites. Overall I prefer DC lore to Marvel lore, I find Marvel lore a bit over-stuffed when everyone exists in the same world. I actually think Marvel cinema has benefited hugely from MCU and X-men being confined to their own separate universes and if they do merge X-men into the MCU both franchises will suffer.

i can remember me having read some Spider-Man comic books at school

but i was more into the oldschool Disney comics, like donald duck, Mickey mouse

and also Kuifje (which you guys more know as adventures of tintin)

When it comes to the Marvel movies, I like the MCU movies just fine; but if someone told me I could never watch them again, I wouldn't be upset or anything. I like the Spidey and X-Men films more, tbh.
As for DC, I don't really like them, Man of Steel made me never want to watch any movies ever again :joker: I like Batman v Superman now more than I did originally, and Justice League is just fine. The only DC films post Dark Knight I liked were Wonder Woman and Shazam, so we'll see how the future films are.
TV series - never watched any of the Marvel ones (apart from the 90s cartoons!) I'm working my way through Arrow, really enjoying that. Sebastian from Glee Barry Allen is still in his coma, and Olly has just gotten with Canary. I'm enjoying Titans after not liking it originally. Batwoman is crap and Watchmen is meh.
(I know Titans and Watchmen aren't in the same "universe" as the rest or each other)

I don't think I've ever read a Marvel or DC comic book. When I was young I read Asterix and Tintin.

I did actually read the first volume of the comic 'The Boys' because it came up on Amazon Kindle for free, and I'd heard about the TV series, but I can't say I enjoyed reading it much.

I was thinking last night, the upcoming Green Arrow and Canaries series could be essentially Birds of Prey, if Felicity is gonna be in it. I don't know if she dies after the part I'm at (near the end of S2 Arrow), and/or if she's gonna be in GA+C, but she could fill the role of Oracle, she basically does that for Team Arrow anyway.

Birds of Prey is about an all girl team (usually, guys are sometimes on board) headed by Oracle, a computer genius. It's usually small-ish scale missions, covert type stuff.

A made up example of what they'd do is Oracle would hack into the security systems, so the doors open for Canary and Huntress as they make their way through the building, and they'd get to Big Bosses office and say "if any more of this drug ends up on the streets, we'll tell your wife about the hookers you've been hiring." Bonus points for "oh, and if you don't immediately withdraw (henchmen), we'll empty your bank account into a number of charities".

(Oracle is Babs Gordon/Batgirl after she was paralyzed, she's in my sigpic with the red hair and green glasses)

I'd like to be optimistic and think the upcoming series might be doing this, and using a different name due to the upcoming movie!

I prefer Marvel when it comes to movies, although my top 2 comic book films of all time are Joker and The Dark Knight. I enjoyed BVS too tbh. Justice League was terrible though. I love Aquaman and Shazam, two of the best DCEU films.

Oliver, do you prefer DC or Marvel when it comes to animated shows?

I don't watch any of the current animated shows, but I loved Spidey and X-men for Marvel, and just Batman for DC, so I guess Marvel.
