Katie Taylor replaces Conor McGregor Pizza
BAD FELLA'S PIZZA AXED Dublin pub The Back Page ditch pizza named after Conor McGregor as he’s ‘not a good person’
A TOP Dublin pub has ditched a pizza named after MMA megastar Conor McGregor as he “is not a good person”. The Back Page in Phibsborough, north Dublin, had previously sold a 12-inch with pepperoni and chorizo in honour of the fighter. https://www.thesun.ie/wp-content/upl...76-3.jpg?w=670 https://www.thesun.ie/wp-content/upl...8135.jpg?w=670 But after a string of controversies in recent years — including various arrests and assault charges — bosses at the boozer decided to change the name. Instead, the popular pie is now called the Katie Taylor to celebrate the two-weight boxing champ. A source told the Irish Sun: “They changed the name because McGregor is not a good person.” Other items offered on the revamped menu include pizzas named after Sonia O’Sullivan, Stephen Kenny and Jimmy Magee. Katie’s name has been scribbled onto a piece of paper and stuck over McGregor’s. The Back Page declined to comment on the change when contacted by the Irish Sun. CONTROVERSIAL INCIDENTS The former MMA champ has seen his popularity plummet in recent months after a series of controversial incidents and brushes with the law. In March, he was arrested in Miami for allegedly smashing a phone out of a fan’s hand, although the charges were subsequently dropped. Then in April 2018, McGregor smashed the bus of fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov with a trolley in New York. He also attacked a referee during a Bellator fight, while he has appeared in court in Dublin on a number of occasions in relation to driving offences. A court was told earlier this month how McGregor has 18 previous convictions — the majority of which are for traffic offences. He was given probation for a previous assault case that dated back to 2009 when he was a plumber. PUB ASSAULT Most recently he was convicted of assault for punching an innocent man in a pub back in April. The Crumlin thug, 31, admitted assaulting a guy who turned down a shot of his whiskey in a Dublin pub and insisted: “What I did was wrong.” The shamed fighter — who was slapped with a €1,000 fine after being convicted of assault — added: “I would like to *apologise to the injured party and to the court today. https://www.thesun.ie/sport/mma/4759...gn=sharebarweb |
