There are 1.2 million illegal immigrants in the UK - highest in Europe!

Britain has up to 1.2 million illegal immigrants, a quarter of all those that
have unlawfully entered Europe
, an authoritative study has revealed.

The number of illegal immigrants in the UK has doubled in a decade with
more than half having lived illegally in the UK for more than five
years
( and of course using the NHS) and a third more than ten years,

according to the pan-European analysis by the respected Pew Research Centre.

Only Germany has a similar number of illegal immigrants with between one
million and 1.2 million, which means that it and the UK account for half of all
those who have unlawfully entered Europe.

The research - the first study of its kind in a decade to cover all 32 European
nations - exposes the scale of the migrant crisis and how Britain’s ineffective
border controls have failed to stem illegal immigration.

David Wood, former head of immigration enforcement at the Home Office, said
officials knew the scale of the problem from secret internal estimates which
showed at least 150,000 foreign nationals enter the UK illegally each
year
and then disappear into the black economy.

Commenting on the figures, Professor Andrew Geddes, of the European
University, said the migration crisis had undermined the public’s trust in the
ability of Governments to deal with immigration. “It had negative effects on
attitudes to the competence of Governments to deal with it,” he said.

yeah so

then send your military to the countries where they are from (solve their conflicts) and then they can go back

wouldn't YOU flee your country if it had any political conflict, a warzone too difficult to live in? now that is the question

rather than being racist and being anti-immigrants

there is no war in Iran, Sudan has a peace process and Iraq and Libya are not at war but have terror issues.

there is no issue with legal immigrants, i thought you would be supportive of legal migration as it is beneficial to the UK :conf:

I thought brexiters wanted less immigration, legal or not?

Dont worry about my support, worry about all those who voted for brexit expecting less immigration. :hee:

exactly, and hopefully britain won't resort to massive deportations otherwise britain would go same route as nazi Germany and we don't want that

you do not have a clue why people voted in elections or referendums. there is no such thing as a "brexiteer" its just a media made up word

controlled immigration not illegal immigration. maybe thats partly why A and E times are so long in your country?

Quite.

I'm all for legal refugees coming here, through the UN or by other legal means. If people are still coming in illegally from countries that have never had a connection with this one - like Vietnam for instance - and where there is no war going on, then they need to be deported. We're more than 60 million now. Doesn't matter how many more houses are built we won't be able to cope if the population rises very much more.

I think that is a myth, I think most are behind a points based system like Australia, I recall a lot of people on TiBB were bigging up Australia and their tough stance when they denied access to Tommy Robinson, so surely they should equally be bigging up some form of proper legalised immigration for the UK.

You're so wise. When I take over the country I'm making you my Home Secretary.

Not sure about it being a myth.
But let's wait and see what the reaction will be when we have brexit and immigration remains as large if not larger. Legal of course, thanks to trade agreements with china or india

Kizzy 15-11-2019 11:59 AM

Quick question. If they're illegal and nobody knows who or where they are how is it known there are 1.2 million of them?
Could it be it's the torygraph whipping up anti immigrant sentiment pre election?

I also have an issue with the reliance on a points based system which in theory is ok, however some sectors rely on workers who would achieve 0 points.

I don't think I have no. As I've said what of the unskilled workers to do the jobs we won't as is commonly quoted?.. Could I add the reason 'Tommy' couldnt get into Australia was imo more to do with his criminal record than his lack of points.

Livia 15-11-2019 12:34 PM

I'd like to see us getting past bringing in unskilled workers from abroad to do jobs that the British unemployed think are beneath them.

Kizzy 15-11-2019 12:36 PM

More stereotyping...sigh.

Beso 15-11-2019 12:40 PM

It's time the British youth woke up and realised the world isn't paved with gold and sometimes to make ends meet you have to do seemingly demeaning jobs...in the pat I have picked Brussels sprouts, picked turnips..trampled scrap into skips...worked ia fish factory..amongst other things...all before I was 20..all so I could have things I wanted.
