Corbyn did really well and Johnson was let off very lightly!! He was questioning Corbyn directly at one point not sure why that was allowed. And when the question of how parties would fund their spending boris just redirected his answer at labour without any protest that he was avoiding any accountability!!
He relied heavily on his soundbites and fudged answer to the questions as to who was responsible for the failure to monitor terrorists. The audience was predominantly male and old too I thought, not as diverse as in previous debates. The Irish border question was glossed over and the selling off of the NHS played down despite actual proof being found to support both outcomes... You could see boris pulling faces and making stupid noises when corbyn made any valid point, like a child. I don't believe he came out on top in that debate at all. |
|
I thought Corbyn absolutely smashed that one tbh.
Clear, valid points made throughout by Jez whilst Johnson repeated the same rephrased answer to every single question. If there was a "Get Brexit Done" drinking game I'd be paralytic rn! :joker: |

Yes it was better than the ITV Live Debate. But Corbyn failed to give a killer punch |

Glad I avoided it then Kizzy Tories are always denying the NHS would be sold off , and its always laughed off  . Boris is a dithering idiot , he can't speak properly let alone answer any questions. He really is a waste of space ! :bored: . |
i didn't watch it and from what i can read, it was same old stories. Corbyn really had to excel during these debates to displace the tories, and he hasn't so it's going to be a tough ask for him to get a good majority. There are still a few days to go, so anything is still possible
|
If you had watched it you'd see he did excel, he was rational, measured, factual and concise. Boris said ' get brexit done' 3 times in the first 4 mins, he waffled and used his faux stutter throughout, as per used a lot of words but didn't manage to say anything.

his first direct attack on Mr Johnson, who he had previously pleaded with to stop politicising the death of his son, he said: “[Jeremy] Corbyn spoke the truth last night. Johnson lied & used our son’s death to make political capital.
He added: “Wake up Britain: this man is a fraud. He’s the worst of us, & he’s taking you for a ride. You may think the options open to you in this election are not entirely to your liking. Me neither, but I’ll be voting least worst option: anti-Tory.”* https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ind...956.html%3famp |

It's exactly the same with the views in the papers, they are someone else's reaction to the debate. Your reaction may be different. |

As a Scot TS, with this tactical voting could you see anyone who would normally vote SNP voting Labour to keep boris out?

The battles have all been all SNP/Tory in 2015 and 2017 and it's the same again this time. In fact, if anything, the best option would be for Lab and Lib Dem voters to tactically vote SNP in contested areas and I think a fair few might do that. As I've said before... Scottish voters, even if they do NOT want Scottish Indy, should currently be voting SNP simply because the Tories have no interest in protecting Scotland from the worst of cuts etc... and it's the best way to combat them here. I think based on the numbers, there ARE already quite a few who vote SNP in general elections but voted (and still would vote) "no" to independence. |

I'm liking the idea of a coalition with the SNP if I'm honest, it would make UK politics more representative of the union as a whole.
