How to start liking video games again?

Hey everyone. Sounds like a stupid question but I'm quite sad! I've came home from uni trying different video games and I can't enjoy any of them anymore! How do I condition myself to liking them again?

Calderyon 17-12-2019 01:13 PM

Try remember why you liked them in the first place.

Dogeatdog 17-12-2019 01:19 PM

I’d maybe try playing some of the older video games from PS1? PS2? It might remind you of the fun times you had playing them and why you enjoyed them so much?

Jigs 17-12-2019 01:30 PM

Same happened to me when I was at uni. I think being away from something for so long makes a lotta difference. Especially if other aspects of your life have changed in that time.

I can only play multiplayer with my boyfriend now. I find one player modes boring and can't bring myself to do it.

you have just realised that there is more to life, move on - you are now on the next level of life

Marsh. 17-12-2019 03:41 PM

That's good for whilst you're at uni. No distractions.

user104658 17-12-2019 05:20 PM

Tbf I definitely games less through Uni, it's just a different sort of phase. If you're still a gamer at heart :hee: you can't just dabble with random games and expect one to hit the spot... something will eventually catch your eye and blow ur sox off and that'll rekindle the general enjoyment of it.

Don't listen to LT, he just wants you to trade it in for "more adult things" like whittling things out of wood and casual evening alcoholism.

The witcher 3

I don't want to buy any new games because I'll probably hate it after a while! I guess I gotta revisit some of my old library and see what hits the spot

Drinking aint for me! LT can remain jealous of my big wallet because my money doesn't go on alcohol

Calderyon 17-12-2019 06:17 PM

Retro games via emulators?

Scarlett. 17-12-2019 06:26 PM

If you have an Xbox, the game pass is worth getting, its basically games Netflix, you can probably find something you like on that

Crimson Dynamo 17-12-2019 06:38 PM

drinking and playing GT5 is why we have hands

do the math

LukeB 17-12-2019 09:47 PM

Normally youtube/twitch gets me in the mood to play some games.

JerseyWins 18-12-2019 04:27 AM

I think it's just normal to get bored of them at least to some extent especially if you overplay them and then suddenly stop for a while. Happened with me a couple years ago and now I just don't play them that much anymore. I'd say try to find new games you might like. Like Fortnite & Dead by Daylight are two games I got into in the last 2 or so years that kinda gave me a bit of a spark for enjoying video games again. :clap1:

Some Video Games have better storylines than Movies and TV Shows nowadays, there is nothing wrong with playing Video Games.:nono:

I don't know what to say Ant, I had a period during the early PS3 era where I got bored with Video Games, and then I discovered my love for the Batman Arkham Games, and then I found games like Uncharted and The Last Of Us which restored my love for the Video Game Industry.

Basically try and find a Game that you like the look of and hope that it lands properly for you, and once you get into one game you might then even like the Games that you once couldn't get into because you begin to enter a flow because you enjoyed that one game so much.

You can get Witcher 3 for about £15 on console these days, without expansion packs but there's plenty of content in the core game.

OR it's actually on sale for PC on GOG at the moment - £10 for the GOTY edition with all of the expansions packs. Which is an amazing deal but if you've not been actively gaming I'm guessing you don't have a gaming PC.

The Slim Reaper 18-12-2019 10:08 AM

Witcher seems like it's on sale every other week on the PS store.

Although personally, if swinging through NY as spider-man doesn't re-invigorate the old gaming desires, then you're lost to gaming forever.

Havent played a video game in about 10 years. In fact the last console i played on was ps2 and that was crash bandicoot and lara croft. Its a shame because I love video games but havent got time to play! The tv is always being used by the kids or wife. I said to myself ill set up a room for myself in the garage to play video games in but its just not happening

The Slim Reaper 18-12-2019 02:15 PM

Witcher 3 is £7.39 on sale in the PS store up until 23/11

I think the witcher 3 is my fav game of all time it’s just... great gowns beautiful gowns

DouglasS 18-12-2019 06:06 PM

I was exactly the same. The only game I’ve played more than 5 hours in the past 5 years is The Witcher 3. Video games just don’t interest me anymore
