Netherlands: Dutch don't spend too much around Christmas

The Dutch will spend €341 per person on food, drink and presents during the December holiday season, according to research by accountancy group Deloitte, and quoted by the Financieele Dagblad.

This is €120 below the average in the seven countries in survey – Britain, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Russia, Poland and the Netherlands.

Deloitte says the Dutch will spend an average of €122 on presents and €109 on food and drink – the lowest in both categories for the seven countries.

Britain tops the list for buying presents, with an average bill of €336 while in Spain, spending hits €173 per person on festive food and drink.

The Dutch figures include spending on Sinterklaas on December 5, which accounts for around a quarter of total spending, the FD said.

our economy is doing really well apparently, latest finance reports say, we have like 14.3 billion over the amount which is needed to be in the economical good health remaining in this year, which is also more than enough to pay off any debts with the EU

considering 10 years ago we had a bit of a economical crisis

We need to take lessons! I've spent a ridiculous amount :(

but ours was at a low around 2009, which is why the at that time finance minister Wouter Bos (of our labour party PVDA) resigned because he couldn't handle the pressure of that recession :joker:
