Is New Year's the most depressing celebration of the year?

I dunno why but it's always just so bittersweet? But it's not really sweet. So it's just bitter.
You just reflect on the year and even if it's been amazing you STILL find something that went a bit tits up and think "****"
I don't even want to think of the state I'll be when I'm 30. What if I'm single and drinking Dark Fruits when the clock hits 12am? No one will ever like me enough to start a year with me, so I'll never go to a New Year's party!

Why can't we just face facts and brace ourselves for the fact we are going into the worst month of the year; January?!

No matter what people answer, Cherie said yes and that's all that really counts

Yes

New Years Eve is fun
New Years Day is depressing

Daniel. 26-12-2019 09:23 AM

I don’t really see it as a big deal tbh

Always loved New Year’s Eve celebrations, always cried at Auld Lang Syne.
Now it’s pretty much just another day in the holiday fortnight or so.

Christmas

No I love starting a new year, I always get bored after summer around september time so im excited to do the countdown to summer

Tom4784 26-12-2019 11:51 AM

I despise New Year's Eve but New Year's Day is my birthday so I don't mind it at all.

Babayaro. 26-12-2019 11:52 AM

Not if you're in Scotland. It's huge here and preferred over Christmas!

LaLaLand 26-12-2019 12:00 PM

Less depressing, more "false".

The people who are all over you at midnight wishing you "all the best" sometimes literally don't give you a second glance any other day of the year, laughable.

Calderyon 26-12-2019 12:00 PM

Yes and no.

I find it very depressing, I haven't found a fun way to celebrate.

JerseyWins 26-12-2019 03:33 PM

It's aiiiiiiiiiiiight. I like that this one is not only a new year but a new decade too.

We bringing back the goofy New Year's glasses for 2020 like they had through the 2000's-2010?

I love New Year. For me, it's less about looking back at the previous year and more about looking forward to the next. It's hopeful.

Shaun 26-12-2019 04:18 PM

Prefer it to Valentine's Day or Father's Day (personal reasons) so no

Hogmanay and New Year is massive here

Marsh. 26-12-2019 07:42 PM

Not really. When I've done something for it, it's been a laugh and when I haven't it doesn't really register as anything important and I enjoy the night watching movies etc. Never saw the big deal. It's just another day.

Cherie 27-12-2019 11:15 AM

I don't mind New Years Day, New Years Eve is totally overhyped, expensive to go out, rubbish on telly, and fireworks still going off at 4am :fist:

Gstar 27-12-2019 04:48 PM

The only thing depressing is that I still don’t have anything to wear and it’s in a few days :worry:
